Stopped at El Mouradi Menzel for 14 nights and had a brilliant time. Dont expect eggs and bacon for breakfast, although they do really good omellettes. Food was excellent, lots of choice, from Tunisian specialities, to chicken and chips. All staff were friendly and welcoming. All spoke English. We even learned some Arabic, which got us huge smiles and huge drinks! Room was spacious and comfortable and clean. The worst thing about the bar was .. they kept bringing us cocktails! All the swimming pools were lovely. There's a really nice bar down at the beach, which is open in the evening, its not part of the all-inclusive deal but its worth paying for a couple of drinks to watch the waves break on the rocks, lit by spotlights. Local towns were interesting, beware of being ripped off - would recommend the 'fixed price' shops unless you're really confident of bargaining with the locals. Good bargains are leather goods, spices, fake designer goods. Local cafes in Midoun are excellent, very cheap, very friendly. Would recommend a walk round the lagoon, its very pretty and unspoiled, local fishermen will take you out on their boat or you can get a horse drawn carriage across to the islands.

Room Tip: Stayed in the main hotel, with a sea view

When you first arrive all looks well ,we arrive at 23.00 and rush to bar and got a quick drink. We was then shown to our room by a golf buggie in a 2 storey building in the counntry,10 mins from main hotel complex.Breakfast.the first sign of food well ,aubergines/carrots/rice for breakfast did not go down to well .We then found the drinks and herbal tea, fruit tea and menthol not a good choice, coffee was much better.eggs fried ,omellette and cerals and salad.Main meals was varied but we were not sure what was being served,as the waiters spoke French and arabic and not english.Drinks in the evening simply drop the waiter a 10 diner note for the night (there was 14 of us) and we got served very quickly other people waited up to an hour for drinks. The location of the complex is remote and no where to walk to too.The swimmining pool is very good and plenty of life guards doing not a alot. The anmitation team work hard at there job.A good tip book the theme restaurants BBq and patio very good. The bed rooms were well equipet ,the only problem we had being in a remote location when it rained we felt we lost our friends. The beach at the hotel was full of sea weed this could be cause by the wind and tides but I am not so sure, as they had diggers onj site to clear it up. ready.WARNING if you visit the local shops the shop keepers are very antit caplism and I was insulted by a shop keeper rubbing my stomach and and then SHOUT capilist. The market I went with 3 of our group all female and they were intimated by the people playing cards, then when we walk passed there stall they run and grab you by the arm and pull you into there stall, simple advise F*** O** in a loud voice and they understand.Would I or our friends go back NO,they don't want Brits only French and there own.I hope this helps you but this was our experience yours may be differnce but be warned.Overall we enjoyed the holiday as we had lots of our friends.

Room Tip: learn some french

Ok,.Here we go!! Went to Djerba on the 24th September 2011 for 7nights with Thomas Cook.
Arrived with music playing loudly and a camel and horse waiting at reception.Initial thoughts were 'this is going to be great'. Met the hotel staff at reception got given a wristband and were being shown to our room.Got to our room and the bellboy refused to leave the room and was holiding his hand out for a 'tip' we had just arrived so the only money we had was a £10 note, which we had to give him. Then looking around the room there was bugs all over the floor ,on the walls, outside table was filthy.fags burns in the bed sheets.Next day, moved rooms, 2nd room was just the same, filth everywhere.then went to rep who moved us a 3rd time to a room within the hotel which was acceptable but not 4star.
Food was very samey,if u like rice or French food then you will enjoy it.Waiters were very helpful and friendly.
was all inclusive but wasnt allowed more than 2drinks per person,so u had to keep going up all the time, bottled water wasnt available til after 8pm.
Not advised for anyone with an allergy to cats,as there are many at the hotel freely walking round.
Pestered everyday by staff to do the activities despite making it perfectly clear u werent interested.
Women arent to be seen sitting alone,or u will draw attention to yourselves by the men,
Smoking almost everywhere which is good for smokers but not so good for non smokers.
Fridge didnt work in the room,tv wasnt worth turning on as all channels were french.
Hairs in the bath in all 3rooms i went to ,take a bottle of detol with u.
Pool area was lovely, best part of the holiday for me,the only time i felt relaxed.
Bear in mind when booking this is NOT a 4star hotel.it is more 2-3star.
The Animation/entertainment team were outstanding,so so friendly,u make some good friends, some of the nicest people i have met.

Beach is disgusting, seaweed everywhere before going i imagined sittin on the beach with a book...well that was far from the case.just not good at all.Bournemouth beach is better.

We spent the first half of the week totally unrelaxed because of the moving of rooms ,didnt bother unpacking suitcases through fear of something crawling in or had intentions to get the next flight home.Turned out we couldnt get on the flight home 4 days after arriving,so we stuck out the last few days and decided to drown our sorrows with the beer.

Be VERY open minded when going here,do not expect a great time or a rubbish time therefore you wont be disappointed. If u like cleanliness this isnt the place for you, there cleaning standards out terrible.

I would go back just to see the Animation team again and simply relax by the pool, but other than that theres nothing going for it.

Room Tip: haha....try choosing a room in the hotel, not the bungalows outside. u need to be in numbers 2000-3500 to get a alright room

We have just returned from a fab 2 weeks at the El Mouradi. We stayed in a one floor menzel in the S block, room was lovely always very clean and fresh sheets and towels not a concern the maid worked hard and always made an effort whether it was towel displays or wrapping my sons teddies up into bed, which made us laugh. All pools were nice but we always went to the fresh water pool as it was quieter and was only around 25 metres to the pier if u wanted a dip in the sea. My husband went jet skiing and on a quad trail during our stay which he thoroughly enjoyed, prices were good too. Always something to do if u wanted football, volley ball archery areocbis , and kids were encouraged to join in my son who is 7 went along with he's dad to play football a few times. Food was good always something tasty to eat both for adults and kids, cakes lovely and fresh every evening. The fish night was great fresh sword fish and mussels were very tasty, we ate out of the resort only once at the Texas City STeal house which was excellent and made a change cost 100 dinars for 4 including starters and drinks well worth a trip only 5 dinars in taxi. Drinks were always readily available, sure there was queues sometimes but u get that anywhere, we got a very good waiter who brought our drinks to the table throughout the night and was always pleasant and happy to see us. Most of the staff were vey good and friendly , the cats were lovely and in good condition very friendly and enjoyed petting etc. ENtertainment was always comical and both my daughter whos 11 and son enjoyed them and joining in with the dancing. Overall we had a fab re
Axing holiday and was greatly surprised by the whole experience and we were all very sad to leave. We would recommend to all and will defo go back
