“Great location, lousy breakfast”
Reviewed 17 August 2011

Small hotel with bungalow/room mix. Small quarters but then the price is low. Located at the beach with own beach and two restaurants. Close to old Side center and ruins.

Hard (as a rock) bed but in my opinion that's common in the Mediterranean area. AC only when you are in the room and at a cost of 43 euro/week.

Hotel entrance feels like walking in to a junkyard...

The breakfast was terrible... No other word for it than that.

But in total you get a great location for the price, if they only could straighten out the breakfast issue we would probably go back again.

Unbeatable price out of season and lovely site right in the Greek city. Clean room, great cleaner, good hot water. Breakfast adequate, no fruit or juice but I bought my own.
The friendliness of the restaurant and shop staff is deceptive, they rob you all the time - eiither by hiding the screen on till in shop or bamboozling you with lira change to euro payment etc. I caught them out 3 times and stood my ground. Th ethos seems to be that as you are getting a cheap holiday you must expect this !
It took me from midnight till 2 a.m to get in - surely the worst entrance in the world. Taxi dumps you in a builders yard.
I ate elsewhere and had a good cheap holiday.

This was our third time in Side, but our first time at the Leda Beach - chosen because of its close proximity to the old town of Side. This place may not have all the whistles of many of the significantly out-of-town hotels, but its perfect location, good standard of accommodation, services and last, but by no means least, the wonderfully hospitable staff make it a perfect choice for those who want to see the local culture.
We arrived at 6.30am on a Wednesday morning and to be honest didn't get off to the best of starts - we were initially placed in probably the oldest and most rustic part of the hotel; that said, the rooms although jaded were very clean and beds comfortable. We bit our tongues and settled in - soon warming to the general std of facility and charming staff. After two days (without asking) we were moved to much more swish rooms of a much newer vintage, which offered ready access to all facilities from top to bottom of the gentle hill upon which the complex is built. Leda Beach offers solid and tidy facilities that provide a perfect base from which to stroll into town where the local culture and history can be sampled. The breakfast was to our minds very good; offering a very nice buffet of excellent local produce and for those who can't bear to be without western junk food, there were attempts at fried eggs, cold meat, waffles on offer. We often dined and drank in the top restaurant 'Theatre', which overlooks the splendid amphitheatre - very good food, nicely presented and with reasonably priced drinks. The Turkish puffer breads and mixed mezze made a perfect light lunch; the Monday BBQ and buffet offered excellent food of limitless quantity for a very fair TL25 (approx £9). The Theatre staff were really good - lovely friendly and helpful people who steadily plugged away at their job always maintaining a happy demeanour - they even had Frank Lampard (Erol Tag) working there! The beach front Leda Beach restaurant also offered good and distinctly different fare from the Theatre - fronted by the famous Bob Hoskins amply supported by the very funny and charismatic Savash (Stavros Flatly). If any sport is available by satellite TV then Savash will find it for you and despite his allegiance to Trabazon Sport will enthusiastically join in supporting your own team.

As a total package, our family wholeheartedly agreed that the Leda Beach takes some beating.

Room Tip: try to avoid the most rustic rooms - ours were in the early teens and were clearly older and acting...

I live in Turkey, and decided to visit the Side area for a break. I drove straight down to the ruins and saw the sign for the Leda, but saw no entrance. I then drove around Side for 1 hour looking for somewhere to stay, and was dissapointed in all I saw. So I made my way back to the Leda. Parked in the carpark..very friendly attendant. Found the reception (have to say you do wonder where you are going) and asked if they had any free rooms. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. My disadvantage was the small dog I had with me, but they just asked if she made a lot of noise and when I assured them she didn't, they agreed to the dog. I was shown my cabin, and taken on a tour of the hotel. The hotel room was spotless, newly decorated. Shower and bathroom were very clean. Shower worked fine. The small sandy beach is a plus for this hotel, as is the pool and area. Food was good. Yes they have ants, and some cats. I live here and I also have ants in my home..we live in a hot country. Insects are part and parcel of it. I was impressed to see a hotel that appreciated animals. A rarity in Turkey. The hotel is next to the ruins, and I found it to be an excellent choice.

This hotel was not the most perfect one but catered very well for all our needs considering the price. The staff were very friendly and hospitable and loved to chat. Very clean and the ladies that cleaned the rooms were superstars :-) The location was just perfect for the beach , the ruins and the town and harbour. Would deffinately return unfortunately tried to book for August this year (as we miss it already) but full :-(

We only booked this for 1 night after our flights were changed and our original hotel were fully booked. We paid £8 for both of us so weren't expecting much!
The entrance into the hotel suggests your sleeping in a car park or toilet block.. But just around the corner there is are quaint and quirky cabins! The surroundings and gardens are beautiful.
The front of the hotel looked out over the roman amphitheatre and the back led straight onto the beach! So this was ideal and fab location for side.
The cabin itself was a canny size with a double bed and bunk beds. It did have a funky smell from the bathroom though which I'm not sure I could have put up with for a week! They all had their front balcony so sit out.
The pool was small but nice on the top level near the restaurant.
Believe it or not our £8 included breakfast.. This wasn't a great breakfast mind so I'm glad we didn't pay much. It was more pancakes and waffles with bread.
The guy who helped with our bags etc was a bit creepy! Wherever you were in the hotel he seemed to appear.
We asked the manager for a late check out as we werent getting picked up until 11pm and he informed us it would be 80tl! We explained we only paid £8 for the whole first night and we could book online for the next night for £10 (we checked website) or jut give him the money. After much humming and haaring he agreed and took the money.
Overall this was great for the price! Perfect location and ideal if you just want a cheapy!

Having just returned from Leda Beach Hotel we can totally recommend it, offering exceptional value for money. The hotel is basic but clean and the staff are amongst the friendlist you will find. The setting is arguably one of the best in the area, overlooking historical ruins but also situated right next to the beach. The man on the beach is very helpful and will sort out sunbeds etc. There is a great choice of restaurants within short walking distance, particularly worth visiting is a restaurant at the harbours edge. Turn right out of the hotel and keep walking. The fish was amazing, and the service second to none. If you book a table at 7.30 you can watch the sun set over the harbour.
One thing we did not get told is do not touch the rope that corners off the swimming part of the sea - you will develop a very painful skin allergy!
The food was all lovely, typical turkish meals...however, if you real insist on English food whilst abroad then this is avaliable too!
There are plenty of day trips and activities on offer - all in all a fabulous setting and a hotel we can totally recommend.
