A Turkish friend living in Canakkale recommended this hotel and we are very glad we took the recommendation. The Hotel Limani is truly a waterfront jewel. It is right downtown, close to everything at the city center, and over looks the harbor on the Dardanelles. The Dardanelles are a wonderful sight filled with ship traffic from ferries to enormous freighters. Gallipoli is clearly visible across the Dardanelles including a huge sign commemorating the awful events of World War I that took place there. There are many nearby restaurants. The ferries and buses are an easy stroll away. The staff speak English well and are very welcoming. Very nice traditional Turkish breakfast... if anything, too much food. We will be returning to Canakkale in a year or so and there is no question about which hotel we will stay it: the Hotel Limani.

We stayed at the Hotel Limani for one week during September 2011 and would thoroughly recommend it. The hotel is in an excellent location on the seafront very close to the ferry port. We had a room overlooking the port and we could see across the Dardanelles to the Gallipoli Peninsula. The hotel was a little noisy some nights due to the close proximity to the port but the wonderful location close to bars and restaurants made up for this and we weren’t bothered at all by it. The hotel was very clean, recently refurbished and very comfortable. The staff were wonderfully friendly and the owner/manager could not do enough to help us. Breakfast was included during our stay and was very good. We also dined in the restaurant one night and the food was excellent and reasonably priced. Overall the Limani was an excellent hotel and we would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Definitely ask for a room overlooking the port to experience the excitement of the port and the sea...

The management and staff of Limani made our stay a great experience. The restaurant serves terriffic food with fast and friendly service. The hotel is beautifully presented and a big bonus we discovered was that management had the wisdom to install generators so that the frequent power outages do not cause inconvenience. Located on the seaside and near the clock tower makes this an ideal location. Service and administration is exceptionally helpful and friendly. Nearby businesses and a variety of restaurants are a relaxing stroll. Bus and ferry connections are only steps away. The boardwalk and ferry boats are fun and picturesque. My favorite in the city.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view.

My wife and I stayed for one night in May 2009.

The room was spacious, clean, and had a comfortable bed. There was no bathtub but a great shower with lots of hot water and very good pressure. The breakfast provided was good as well. All in all it was perfect for us.

The only complaints I have about the hotel is that the door card entry system would beep incessantly unless you slammed the room door shut.

This hotel is in a great location, the bedroom was a good size and the bed was comfortable. But.... the room was in need of a lot of relatively minor annoying maintenance work such as blocked shower drain, loose toilet seat, only one hanger in the wardrobe, etc. For example my husband was able to fix a noisy poor fitting window by reinserting a hinge pin that had fallen out. Our room was not serviced so we ran out of toilet paper and had to ask for fresh towels.
The breakfast food selection and quality were excellent although it is best to go to breakfast late rather than early as the best food seems to come out later.
I would like to stay here again because of the wonderful location but I might insist on checking the room before I take it next time.
