This hotel is quite nice considering we are no longer in Istanbul. We enjoyed the buffet dinner and breakfast, there was a good selection of food. Our room has no view. This hotel has two buildings. We stayed at the second building, so there was a long walk to/from our room to the reception/restaurant. Signs were not clear and I almost got lost.

This hotel enjoys a wonderful location with very nice views of the Dardanelles. The grounds are also very nice. Our room was in the newer and somewhat separate wing and was clean and fairly comfortable. The TV didn't work properly (very poor reception). Room lighting was very dim and it was impossible to read for any length of time without eye strain. Bed coverings were totally inadequate (too small). The hotel was going through major renovations and this did not help our overall impressions. Service was only fair overall- it was a challenge to get anything in the bar but the staff at the reception were willing enough. This hotel hosts a number of tour groups and seemed to handle the crowds well except for the dinner buffet (overcrowded and disorganized).

Terrific views of Dardenells; stayed one night as part of tour - nice mall/supermarket across street, and had no trouble sneaking wine into room (hotels in turkey have some security and discourage bringing in booze from outside so they can sell their own high-priced booze). Pool was closed for repairs. Food decent, and elevatprs worked well. room comfortable.

The trouble with Hotel Kolin is that they really think it’s something special. It isn’t. Despite looking swish and modern on the outside, the interior is dingy and run down. We stayed in a suite – which consisted of a bedroom, a second room with a two seat sofa looking at the TV on a shelf, a third room with just a single chair, and the forth room was the bathroom. All arranged in a corridor fashion, so to get from the bathroom to the bedroom you had to traipse through the other two rooms. Although the bedroom did have a sideways view of the sea, the others had views of Canakkule, which is not an attractive city. The wifi didn’t work.

The restaurant was closed for renovations so dinner and breakfast were served as buffets in a windowless ballroom with a stage at one end. The food was really poor – mostly lukewarm and vegetable based although there was a meat sausage available at breakfast. Some of the food was really nasty, but as it was a buffet I guess we are supposed to blame ourselves for choosing badly.

The outdoor pool looked uninviting – a semi-circle of brightly coloured tiles on a patio area with a gate open to the public seafront. Nobody used the pool whilst we were there and we thought it looked too intimidating. The indoor pool was closed for renovations.

As other reviewers have mentioned, the hotel has a penchant for searching bags in order to confiscate any food and drink brought in from outside. Tacky.

Hardly what you’d expect of a five star hotel.

The rooms are very confortable, food is very good and view to the Bosphorus is lovely.
Is located to the outskirts of Canakalle so this can be an disadvantage for people who love to stay in city center.

Room Tip: with sea view
