i and my wife were at Cappadocia in the later half of October 2011. We wanted to stay in a genuine cave hotel but which was reasonably priced. it was by accident that we located this hotel on tripadvisor. Surprisingly its listed under B and B. We booked the room directly through the website of the hotel. Though they do not have an online reservation system the owners Maummer and Arzu respond almost within 3-6 hours on the bookings. This hotel has just 6 to 8 rooms and some of them are real cave rooms. Even the owners are transparent enough to admit the same. The hotel is located on an inner lane and about 300 meters from the main road. Thats the only disadvantage with this place in terms of a relatively weak location. Barring this the hotel scores on every front. Both the owners Maummer and his wife Arzu are phenomenal hosts. They guided us with the tours and all other travel related arrangements. Being Vegetarians they took special care about us to prepare something warm that was vegetarian for us. Maummer was always present when we had breakfast to give us tips about what to try and what were the specialities. The choice for breakfast was very sufficient and good in terms of quality. All my bookings for the excursions as well as for the Whirling Deverish and Hot Air Balloon were done by Maummer at reasonable rates. The cave room that I stayed in was reasonably large and we found it very fascinating. The entire experience from pick up to drop and the stay and the food we found to be phenomenal. I and my wife were more than satisfied.

Really enjoyed our stay, and the lovely meal in a charming location. Wonderful breakfasts, too.

Unfortunately my friend and I stayed only two nights at this wonderful boutique hotel in Urgup. The area certainly warranted much more time to explore the riches abound all around. And the hotel was so relaxing and beautiful, I could have easily spent the two days we had just enjoying the hotel and the Owners. The architecture and grounds are spectacular, and so well maintained.
There are so many terraces and relaxing private areas, it was great to unwind and reflect on the sites and wonders of the day. While sitting and reflecting, the staff would come by with tea and afternoon snacks. Breakfast was also wonderful every morning. We went to town for dinner, but spent the evenings relaxing by the fire enjoying the backgound music and some of the homemade wine from Arzu.
Arzu and Maummer were gracious hosts (yes, we felt more like we were welcomed guests to their home than at a hotel). Arzu gave us a private guided tour to some local caves telling us all about the history of the local dwellings. He also helped us to change a scheduled tour that we had, to enable us the most opportunity to see the sites in the area. He shared his experiences, wisdom and friendship with us. It was truely a highlight of our trip.
Don't forget the balloon ride, that too was incredible!
I just want to say thank you to Arzu and Maummer and all of the staff at the Meleklerevi hotel. I hope to come back someday with my boyfriend, as it would make a great place for a romantic get-away or honeymoon too!

This is the place to stay when visiting Cappadocia. A beautiful family run boutique cave hotel with excellent service and the best of hosts. Sitting around an open fire at night drink in hand in a beautful courtyard with views of the whole area then having a delightful meal in the charming small dinning area. Wonderful You end up dancing to the music Muammer plays with disco lights and all. It is most conducive to mixing with you fellow guests and enjoying their experiences . Such a delightful place and food and wine so reasonably priced. We loved it and hope to go back.

This time our guide-book gave us a good suggestion, and after 3 days in goreme we decided to move to urgup and book few more by this highly reccomended hotel.
Well, after Melekler, any comparison with the other boutique hotels we visited has been really disappointing!
The place is fairy itself, the service is great, Muammer and Arzu are lovely hosts, their staff is kind, willingful, and the cook is a nice lady who will, unfortunately for your fitness, prepare for you deliciuos breakfasts and snaks.
Thanks to Muammer siggestion, we also spent 2 wonderful hours by a horse riding center, that we never thought to experience, and that we'll never stop to thanks having done it.
Last, he has a Cisterna (Ittites period) still to be excavated... isn't it fashinating!?
Melekler over the top, thank you guys!
PS sleeping quality: I loved the place, but personally I prefer softer mattresses, and I never slept perfectly, but I'm afraid this happened during my whole turkish holiday. Also the morning muezzin from the -by mosque was very powerful... like to have him straight in the room with you! ahahaha

We had a lovely stay at the Meleklerevi b&b. Charming room, nice views, warm welcome,
delicious and generous breakfast highlighted by the stories of Muammer - from his advice
on how to spend our day, help to rent a car or organise a horseback ride, to the anecdotes
on the region's history without forgetting a story in pictures of how he and Arzu entirely
redid the house from a heap of pretty much nothing....
Arzu and Muammer run this hotel ina very professional manner but take the time to make you feel like family.
We had a wonderful time and definitely will be back if we get another chance to visit
lovely Capadoccia!

We stayed at the Melekler Evi Hotel (in the Unut - "Hope") Cave room. It is a gorgeous setting and hotel carefully designed by Arzu and Muammer Erinal, and provides not only the opportunity to relax and be pampered at this beautiful facility and people. Our room was quite nice and although built into a cave (a couple or more thousand year old), had a modern bathroom and WiFi.

The grounds and plants and flowers are beautiful, helping to make one area or terrace flow to the other. There are so many terraces, sitting and resting areas where you can find other areas in your down town. The landscaping and hardscaping have been carefully planned to allow plenty of space for the guests and views of the beautiful surrounding and distant countryside. Arzu and Muammer were gracious and warm hosts and one evening while eating dinner after a long day out, we enjoyed watching with him a championship basketball game of his favorite Turkish basketball team on his large screen. They offered great suggestions and made sure we got off each day with our chosen guide (or our 4:50 AM pick up for Hot Air ballooning).

Muammer is a passionate music fan and also has varied carefully-selected music playing softly in the background in the morning or evening at dinner. One evening, we enjoyed sitting around an outside fire, drinking a Raki and some great Turkish wine chosen from Muammer's cellar, which they are happy to share with you. We enjoyed two dinners there and there were both delicious and reasonable. A third evening we walked about 7 minutes into town and had a nice dinner at Ziggy's.

The breakfasts are delicious, and they also offer you freshly cooked eggs if you wish, as well as other special hot items each morning. Weather permitting, you can take breakfast outside on a gorgeous terrace, or in the dining room.

Urgup, where the Melekler Evi is located, was an ideal city to base yourself for exploration of the Cappadocia area (which we did for 3 days). Although it is offcially larger than Goreme, I felt like it was smaller as the town area near the Melekler Evi was more laid back and commercial than Goreme. Having said that, you could walk around the corner to find several good restaurants, a Wine producer offering tastings right on the main street and a nice hike up to "Temenni Tepesi" - Wish Hill View Point in Urgup.

We loved the Melekler Evi, serene surroundings and the warm hospitality of Muammer and Arzu. We will go back.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
From the first beating of Angel Wings...The first time we saw this land of beautiful horses, Cappadocia, and its magical fairy chimneys, we knew we had to leave our own mark on this land that has been home to different civilizations for centuries. In Cappadocia nothing is as it seems. We lived this with each throw of the axe and with each stone that we lifted from the soil. As we removed hundreds of cubic meters of dirt from the garden and from the top of the main building, we discovered the remainders of centuries past. ... more   less
