You can either walk up to the amphitheater or use the open air van for a price. It's the first amphitheater that I've been to so I don't have much to say. When you are there, you can clap your hand and the sound will vibrate and reflects. You can imagine the intensity when the spectators thump/clap/shout in the ancient time.

Loved this great amphitheatre! It was so high up the mountain but worth the walk!

The Roman amphitheater, about a kilometer of the castles of "cotton" (travertine limestone natural attraction), is the leader among the monuments in ruins. Very interesting but a bit damaged by the time.

You can still get a real feel for the original grandness of the amphitheatre in Hieropolis; it was big (15 thousand spectators from memory) and sat on a hill looking down toward the ancient city, the valley (towards Denizli) and directly toward the sunset. Lots of information panels posted everywhere, making for intriguing reading.
There are works going on however, with large machines and some scaffolding, but it doesn't take away from the experience.
