The oasis is a great break from the shopping malls and tourist focused entertainment the UAE has become known for. It is a great spot for a walk in the shade. There are various spots to take a rest. We packed our own small snack pack/lunch. The information centre at the main gate is a great resource of information, not only on the plants of the area (and general desert life) but also of the culture and history. It takes about 30min to walk from one side to the other (if you do not get lost)

We enjoyed the time in the shade.

The largest of several oases scattered across the city, this one is located just south of the souk and adjacent to the National Museum. A great date plantation with more than150,000 trees, it is a green, tranquil labyrinth of narrow lanes. Our organized tour did not give us much time here, but we did have the opportunity to learn about date harvesting from our tour manager, and to watch as a man scaled the trunk of one of the palms. My spouse and I would have loved to linger longer beneath the rustling fronds on the cool shady walkways.

Truly an Oasis in the desert. Fascinating example of how people used to work on the land pre technology using irrigation channels.

Lovely atmosphere to hire a bike and ride around for an hr.

Excellent photo opportunities throughout.

Well worth a visit to understand how people lived in the harsh middle East environment hundreds of yrs ago.

There isn't anything much to see, its basically a palm date plantation. Not worth the visit if you are thinking to drive all the way from Abu Dhabi. Its near the Al Ain zoo, you can plan to visit both within the same day.
