Owner description: Located on the banks of the poetic Thu Bon River, in central Quang Nam province, 30 kilometers south of Da Nang, Hoi An ancient town is an Eastern oriental classic captivation. With the strategic location on the banks of the great river, with one seaside border (East), it used to be one of the major trading centers in Southeast Asia during the 16th century due to the early western trader occupying period.

We have loved our visit to Hoi An. It is quirky, hot, loud, bustling & completely unforgettable. We've been treated with genuine kindness & would recommend this place to anyone. Wonderful, amazing, funny & great fun.

My wife and I spent 4 days in Hoi An and enjoyed every minute of it. If you like to shop here's just as good as anywhere in Vietnam and its a lot easier to walk around without the risk of being hit by a moped rider (well less risk than Saigon or Hanoi). The night life is great with all the coloured lanterns and street food and we walked around most nights and felt safe, even very late when things got quiet. During the day it does get very busy but it has quiet parts across the river to sit and have a beer (or two) and watch the passing crowds. Make sure you visit the silk art shop in the centre of town (forget its actual name) the work they do there is astonishing and a walk around upstairs on how they get the silk is free and very educational. We both had things made (clothes and shoes) but it was more for the experience rather than price or design. Its just nice to tall people you had a leather jacket handmade in 24 hours in Hoi An. Great memories and must visit location.

Lots of shops or street vendors to find souvenirs or tailor-made garments. Look for restaurants with upper balconies so the breezes find you while you eat or drink. Incredible views at night with lanterns lighting the sky.

This was part of the Gate 1 tour we were on. During the day, this place is dead and you can appreciate the old architecture and beauty. As the sun goes down, solar-avoiding tourists (predominantly Chinese and Korean) come out in droves. There are a couple of sites to see amongst all the tourist-ware on sale. This is probably a good place to shop for souvenirs. Silks lanterns and artwork are prevalent, and of reasonable quality/price (we bought lanterns). The crowds are excessive but, if you can get by that, you’ll be ok. Recommended
