This hotel is very good for tourists as bedrooms are larger than usual for Japan and the breakfast buffet is varied. Bedrooms are clean and well furnished and bathrooms are small but acceptable. The public areas are well cared for and comfortable. The onsen (hot baths) in the basement and on the roof are very pleasant with good views from the roof. Wifi is free and reasonably fast. The hotel is not too expensive. What stopped us giving this a 5 is the charge of 1000 ¥ per person for residents to use the swimming pool. We have never seen this before and it is a mistake for the hotel to make residents pay. A very good hotel otherwise which is well positioned, a short walk from the main attractions and very near the station.

Overall in Japan the service is good and hotel is clean. This hotel is as expected. Everything is neat and tidy. Wifi not too fast but acceptable.

However, it is a small town so by night fall it will be difficult to get food without having some extended walking.

It is near bus and train station.

Our second Hotel on our Grobus tour. Small room and a little cramp with a small bathroom. Not a centre city hotel you have to walk 5 to 6 blocks to main street attractions and restaurants of a small Japanese village, not much to see other than shopping. Service and meals at the hotel, very good.

The Hida Hotel provided a very nice small village Japan experience. It was a short walk to the town and restaurants. The hotel itself was adequate, however the room was tiny. The bathroom was modular and more like that on a ship than in a hotel. The beds were not much more than cots and the room temperature was difficult to regulate. It was difficult to communicate because almost none of the staff spoke English. However, the entire experience provided a good flavor of Japan. Unfortunately, we had a significant medical emergency and it took well over a half hour for the ambulance to respond and communication was an issue. This hotel may be great for the Japanese vacationer; however, it is not well suited to the Westerner.
