“Nice hotel, convenient access to town by frequent shuttle service.”
Reviewed 13 May 2012

This is a very nice modern hotel, and extremely pleasant. It is served by a good bus shuttle service into town and a good pickup service from the train station..

Room was nice and large as well, and breakfast was a splendid buffet..

Only 2 things i cud hv wished for - i) that it was not so popular with large tour groups; somehow this is always a dampener for me; and ii) that they had a bar - there was no place for a drink unless one visits one of their expensive restaurants for dinner... The lounge cafe would have been great if only it remained open late..

Nevertheless, a nice hotel and recommended..

About a 10 minute free shuttle bus ride from JR station. Very modern, very large onsen hotel with fantastic spa facilities including indoor/outdoor (segregated) onsens on 5th and 7th floors. Good restaurants (japanese and more western). Very good buffet breakfast. Had a deluxe double (twin beds - more the norm in Japan) on 16th floor with lovely views of the Japanese Alps. Rwell equipped. Rooms are huge by Japanese standards and large by European/US standards. Very well equipped with very good bathrooms. Some English spoken but few non-japanese in evidence. A very good hotel indeed.

Room Tip: Go for the deluxe twin/double. Rooms are larger and on higher floors and price difference in not lar...

The hotel itself is beautiful, the rooms are great, the hot springs are on the 6th floor and the view is fantastic.
The buffet breakfast was great.

The rooms aren't really that great (perhaps because we prefer a king size bed rather than 2 larger size twins), but clean and comfortable. If need be, there is a bottle of green tea spray in the closet that you can use to freshen the room. The breakfast buffet is outstanding with a wide choice of Japanese and Western style foods.

The onsen is worth a visit as the view from the outside infinity pool is quite nice. I didn't find the water to be overly hot. You will find a yukata, slippers, bag, and "modesty" towel in one of the drawers in your room as well as instructions on how to use the onsen.

There is a shuttle bus that runs regularly from the hotel to town and back. Be sure to visit the Festival Float Museum, morning market, and walk around the Preservation area.

This is a first-class hotel, with an hourly shuttle bus service between it and the train station (city centre). Stay here if you're seeking luxury and hot spring baths (in the hotel). We had a lovely view over the township and mountains.

The only disadvantage is you are out of the township but it is an inexpensive taxi ride away if the shuttle times don't suit you.

I was able to get a room here without prior reservations, and the room was huge and very clean and quiet. The spa area is beautiful but the water is chlorinated, not true hot spring water. The restaurants were attractive but the food dull. This hotel is large and has pretty views but I found the feeling of the place made me want to check out asap in the morning, it just wasn't welcoming, warm or friendly. I don't think it is great for a solo traveller, though it was very safe and the baths were very beautifully done. The lobby, restaurants and baths are so huge and spacious I felt I really stood out as the only solo traveller I saw and it was so big that there was no chance for even a minimal conversation. A couple might find this a nice stop, and I did see a tour bus full of English speaking tourists, and the tour guides who use this hotel for their tour groups.

This pleasant hotel sits on a hill top with a nice view of the valley behind Takayama. A hotel shuttle stops outside the small train station often, making the 10 minute journey up the hill or down. The best thing about the hotel is the onsen - wow! There is an indoor and whole range of outdoor pools of different shapes and characteristics - even an infinity hot pool allowing a great view across the valley. The regular spa is very good too but of course pricy. We tried a private outdoor onsen under the stars and a massage for two which was a real treat. The long hallway to the public onsen reveals a large indoor/outdoor lounge area for both men and women with the onsen's down stairs. In the lounge area you can buy full meals, liquor, drinks or icecream. You choose and pay at a machine then pick up your meal or treat in the kitchen. A tatami dining area is available to eat in. The choice and prices beat the main floor bar/dining room. Watch the times though, the dining room is not open continuously but there are always treat/drink machines. If going to the Hida Folk village (recommended) take a taxi from the hotel rather than from the town. It is closer. It is a very interesting 2+ hour visit if the weather is good - pretty setting.
