I spent two nights at the Manten Hotel and it is very close to the main station which is great – it is a 5-10 minute stroll with luggage. The hotel reception staff members were friendly and efficient. There is a large lobby area and three lifts. All hotel rooms in Japan are compact compared to western standards, but well-designed to make the most of all the space. The single bed was wider than in Europe and long. There was a desk, chair, flat screen TV, good air conditioning, kimono, slippers, kettle, fridge and a good assortment of toiletries in the bathroom. The bed is comfortable and comes with a duvet.
Breakfast was included and there was a choice of Japanese or American style breakfasts. Being British I opted for the Japanese breakfast and loved it all – so beautifully and quickly prepared in a huge variety of dishes (see photo) and a real treat to enjoy. Fruit juices and coffee/tea are available from a drinks area in the breakfast room. The breakfast staff have to work hard and very fast, and they are all so friendly and kind.
This hotel was the perfect base from which to explore Kanazawa – highly recommended!More
