When I arrived to the property it was 2:30 pm, and the front desk showed complete lack of flexibility in allowing me to check in. They insisted that I can only check in at 4 pm, although other people were checking in and were being allowed to go to their rooms. It may have been the combination of me being a foreigner and speaking Japanese, but no matter what I argued they were inflexible. I was stuck in the lobby, with crews working loudly around me, despite my fatigue. Japanese hospitality? Not here...

We revisited Yamanashi Prefecture to visit Sadoya Winery and the Takeda Shingen Shrine in the spring and stayed again at this hotel. It is located only five minutes walk from Kofu Station and surrounded by very good restaurants and shops. The area in front of the station has been nicely renovated and is clean, open and safe. Because of its location, this hotel remains a popular stay for business visitors and the room rates are a bargain. Clean, friendly, free wifi, free breakfast, and convenient. Easy access to the Takeda Shingen Castle ruins. Join the Toyoko Inn membership club for discounts. We used the ECO plan for 300 Yen discount, which simply means they will leave a bag of clean towels on your door daily without entering to make up your room. This allows you to relax a bit more in the mid-mornings after breakfast before going out to sightsee.

Room tip: As for the larger rooms, NON-smoking is best.

Most, if not all, Toyoko Inn business hotels are conveniently located next to or within few minutes walk from major train stations. This hotel is within stone's throw from the Kofu train station. The lobby/dining area for Toyoko Inns are similar (a good thing, as familiarity is comforting to travelers) and the rooms are laid out the same way. Restaurants are abundant around the hotel with great local foods and friendly service. Seems most Toyoko Inns are managed by women! Great! Service is great, and joining their membership club offers discounted stays and a nice ID card is provided within a minute with your photo taken at check in! Plus, their ECO plan also offers a 300 Yen discount if they don't make up you room daily, but simply hang a bag of towels on your door each day and you make your own bed.
Free breakfast buffet is delicious with friendly kitchen ladies! Most Japanese travelers eat early between 07:00 - 08:00 so go around 08:00 and the line is gone! Food available till 09:30 a.m. Free sundry items and yukata so no pajamas needed. Free wifi, of course and usually two or three computers available in the lobby for emails, Internet.
We schedule our travels around JAPAN and take advantage of Toyoko Inns' easy to find location. Easy to find on their website in ENGLISH!

Room tip: Limited view but within five minutes walk to the Kofu Castle. Look for the largest rooms available as the cost between sizes are negligible.

Great location, but our least favourite of the hotels we stayed in on our Japan trip. Free breakfast is a bonus, but hotel is dated, walls are thin and we could hear all the noise from the hallway as well as the kind of creepy "session" in the room next to us.

Stayed at the TI No.2 for 8 nights. Accomodation was as expected for a Japanese business hotel.

The staff on reception were very helpful with recommendations for places to eat and in dealing with Chinese tour groups flaunting the hotels policies on the no smoking floors.

The breakfast was 'free' and as such was quite simple but OK for getting you started.

Wireless internet worked well.

The location is 2 minutes walk from the train station and there are many eating options a stones throw away.
