“The northern tip of Japan!”

Great spot to visit. We wanted to go as far north as we could in Japan, and this is it. We took the JR train from Sapporo to Wakkanai, and from there we got a bus to Cape Soya. Ask in the tourist info centre re tickets. You have just under an hour at the Cape until the return bus. There is lots to see and do, and while we were there we saw a wild fox and some deer. There is also a little iceberg museum beside the closest souvenir shop. They save bits of icebergs, and display them with stuffed animals...

We were there together with many tourists. It's Japan's most north point, so it's quite popular. On a clear day it would be possible apparently to see Russia (Sakhalin). You will also find on the top of the hill several monuments that are very interesting. There are restaurants and shops on the location. There is free parking and the attraction is for free. We enjoyed it.

This is the northern most point of Japan and it’s well worth seeing, you can actually see Russia from here. I can only imagine that some really good seafood would come out of the waters here as the ocean is so clear and clean, I put my foot into the water expecting to be cold but it was surprisingly warm.

It's northern most point of Japan. It is not always easy to reach the Northern most point of a country. Other than the political significance, there is nothing much special bout this place. I don't mean it is not nice. It is a very nice beach and a great view and must be a part of your trip to Wakkanai just because it is the nothern most point of Japan.

It's the most north point in Japan. Buy a return ticket from bus station inside JR Wakkanai... 50 mins ride one way... Bus no 1. Pick the schedule. You don't want to miss the bus to go back in Wakkanai. It's very cold there because of the wind but it's worth it. There are ramen restaurant on the uphill. The ramen is delicious and could warm up your body. We visited in summer late june 2016, the temp there is 9.5C!
