Good food, good service and reasonable price. Food was tasty with a warm environment on bench seating.

It's a small little restaurant very close to the grounds of Todai-ji grounds and Temple Hall of the Great Buddha. It's run by an older couple and the woman seems to do pretty much everything! She took our order, brought out the food, cleared, and I wouldn't be surprised if she cooked the food out back too! There were 6 of us and we all enjoyed our food very much. Several of us had the donbori which was delicious, others had udon and a few other items on the menu and we all enjoyed our food. Each person's order comes on a tray w/ some pickled veggies or mushroom soup or other items depending on the set menu. We had 2 different kinds of shaved ice and they were amazing. Much more finely shaved than the ice at home and delicious w/ ice cream on top. The ambience was relaxing and peaceful. I enjoyed this place very much.

We dropped in here for lunch on a cold day. The special curry was fantastic and service very friendly. Prices were also reasonable.

We stopped in for lunch after visiting the Daibutsu-den Hall and Nigatsu-do Hall on our way to the Kasuga-Taisha Shrine. Our parameters: must have air conditioning and take credit cards. This place has a huge menu that is reasonably priced (especially for a tourism area) and is much more than ice cream. On an extremely hot day we had cold udon with various toppings in a broth. It also came with cold green tea. The staff was very warm and friendly. It revived us perfectly for our afternoon!

We came here by chance and in two words it is good value and real good food.
If you like to try new things, you can order the nebatoro (¥850) with natto and yam.
