Richard B. Fisher Center Spiegeltent
Restaurant details
Reviewed August 20, 2017 via mobile

The spiegeltent is not a tent but a round building, kind of artsy in style, for eating, drinking, music, before or after concerts at fisher hall, which is in walking distance. Salad was good, pasta dish mediocre and very dry, dessert fair.
A place to eat or drink, for its convenience, but not necessarily for its fine cuisine.

We went to hear Rufus Wainwright (and his sisters) - came early to have dinner.
Didn't know what to expect because although our son goes to Bard we had never been to the Spiegeltent. Food and drinks were great. Interior is magical, enchanted, whimsical. After the performance the place transformed into an all ages disco.
Just wish the Spiegeltent wasn't like Brigadoon - it disappears at the end of the summer!

We arrived at Bard College's Center for Performing Arts way ahead of afternoon performance time so stopped at the Spiegeltent for a light lunch. The building alone is worth a visit--the tables are "in the round" for their evening performances. And it is almost a circus/vaudeville decor. The service was prompt and the food reasonably priced (compared to other places connected to theater in our experience.) I had the tomato soup which was delicious and my partner had a sandwich. Not necessarily a "destination" meal, but very nice when combined with a show.

We enjoyed a pre theater dinner in the tent. The local food was nicely presented and we got a discount on the SummerScape Night-Out Package, it included 3 courses. They had a local blackberry soda in addition to a fun, inexpensive wine list of off the beaten track vineyards.

A fun experience of show and dinner. Dinning Outdoor or in the Spiegletent are unique settings. A great summer stop with outstanding entertainment
