We visited the fish market located inside the Marina City island in Wakayama. Free grills for trials are available for free in some of the particular restaurants / shops. The fish was really fresh and tasty. There are lots of different seafood related dry foods to purchase in the shops, and the foods were good too. Overall a very relaxing and nice experience in this fish market.

There's quite a bus ride from the JR Wakayama station to the Market but thankfully it was a direct bus. Made it just in time for their 12:30pm showing of the tuna cutting demonstration. Purchased some seafood for the outdoor BBQ and some fresh sushi that used the freshly sliced tuna. There's BBQ tables outside, right beside the market, so customers can purchase food from inside and use the grills for free outside. There's quite a nice selection of food, if you don't feel like sushi or seafood grilling, they also have tempura and ramen shops as well, so there's something for everything. Inside the market, there's a store with plenty of local food souvenirs, local fruits and cakes only available in Wakayama. Outside the market, there's a fruit shop that sells fresh fruits, juice and other products. It's a great day trip option along with a walk through Porto Europa and definitely worth a visit.

The place is prepared for tourists. We saw loads and loads of tourists coming to this place in tour buses. We are among them.

The fish and fruits are expensive here. We witnessed the " Giant Tuna Cutting Demonstration" ---a show merely cutting of small tunas!

Many stores selling the pricey goods. There is a restaurant upstairs which serve "fresh fish" and of course very expensive!

Not a necessary place to visit.

This establishment does not appear to be a real fish market. It is more like one section of the theme park, with a few small restaurants and shops. The sushi is overpriced and of average quality. Also, it is not easy to get to via public transport...it takes around 30 to 40 minutes of bus ride. However, if you must go, it is very easy to get a bus at the JR station or in front of the Castle. Make sure you check the schedule first as the buses are not frequent.
