This place was pretty much what I was hoping to find...one which caters to locals as well as travelers. Owner made the mixed drinks and a gal is on hand to pour beers (Sapporo & Heineken on tap). Friendly and welcoming...so much so that I went back on my second night.
Didn’t really eat there (cheese platter only), but saw several people order curry dishes, and they looked fantastic. Owner made me a gin drink using fresh squeezed kabosu (local Japanese lime)...really awesome! He then suggested I try some snake sake from Okinawa, which I did (2 shots...tastes like snake).
Don’t know if I’ll ever be back in Beppu but, if I am, damn straight I’m heading to Route 10!
