What a gem, situated on a hill side overlooking the town. Lovely outdoor seating area. Old fashioned building(used to be a church) with old worldly charm. The food is excellent and the staff lovely. A real treat.

A former church converted into a lovely guest house. Our room opened to a verandah and a great view of the cathedral.
Wonderful outside seating area to talk, relax, dream and supported by a wonderful in house restaurant. A great French breakfast and even better evening meals. Could of stayed longer here.

A very comfortable and welcoming hotel. The restaurant and grounds are beautiful and there is an incredible view of the old town from the garden area. The rooms are a bit more variable and although they are expensive, if you can afford to get the more expensive rooms then it's worth it. We stayed one night in one of the cheaper rooms and it smelt heavily of stale cigarettes and was a bit cluttered. However, the hotel kindly agreed to move us to one of the better rooms for the same price for the next night which was appreciated (although there was some confusion upon settling the bill where the desk tried to renege on this offer). It was possible to get wifi in the rooms but signal was up and down and sometimes didnt work at all. The restaurant is decent but probably the most expensive I have ever seen in Mada. There is a welcoming, comfortable place next door though which does decent food and is a better bet for dining. The staff were very friendly and, leaving aside the settling of the bill, were always on hand to help us or provide information.

Room Tip: Worth paying a bit more to get a better room. Cheaper rooms can smell of stale fag smoke

A place maybe not really typical of Fianar / Madagaskar? A good stopover to enjoy a top bathroom (shower with good water pressure, wonderfully clean toilet). Staff very firendly and helpful, speaking good English. All in all to recommend, but inside you do not really feel like being in Madagaskar.

If you're passing through Fianarantsoa anytime soon, then you simply must visit the Tsara, even if it's solely for a meal. A refined atmosphere, attentive but not overbearing service combines with a menu which knocks the socks off most restaurants in Europe in both imagination and quality. You'll want to come back for more and you really should.

The rooms look really inviting, the grounds are magnificent and there's a classic Peugeot to drool over. With views over to the old town, what's not to like?
