We stumbled across this apartment while checking out a variety of possible rentals in Johor Bahru but an apartment rather than a couple of hotel rooms was always out No 1 choice. As it turned out, this place was perfect.
It's located in a tower block you actually see as you cross the Causeway from Singapore and only ten minutes' cab ride from JB Sentral - you could walk easily enough if carrying a backpack but not so simply if dragging a suitcase - but at RM10 for the trip it wasn't a bank-breaker anyway.
Ruth, the owner, had given us a wad of information before we arrived which made the whole process of getting settled in a simple one - everything was easy to find, exactly where she said it would be and nothing was missing.
The apartment, on the 20th floor, has spectacular views over a 180 degree vista; for a New Zealander sitting in the lounge and looking across to another country is not an everyday event. The apartment itself was spacious, quiet, clean, the kitchen had everything we wanted, the bathrooms were well-appointed, both bedrooms had separate aircon units and it was an ideal holiday rental. The pool down on Level 7 got a bit of use, there were shops within a few minutes walk, restaurants about the same distance away and the Malls were maybe a slow 15-minute stroll.
It was, in fact, the sort of apartment I think we were lucky to find because I suspect people live year-round in most similar properties - it was that sort of standard.
I'd happily recommend this rental to anyone travelling in a group that would need more than one hotel room - there were three adults in our little party - and I have nothing but good things to say about it. I'm very happy we made the decision we did and stayed here.
