Rooms were nice but washroom dint have a shower curtain or hooks to hang clothes. room service was not at all good. it was raining during the time we were there. so we wished to order in as we were with an infant. but there response was that we cant give room service and to wait for the rain to get over. we ordered from outside sahar indian place. they were kind enough to bring the order in the rain. then we asked room service to get some cutlery and plates. however they flatly refused again giving the excuse of the rain and asked us to pick the plates ourselves in the rain.
after all this the manager was kind enough to register our complains and was kind enough to arrange a cab ride to the airport free of cost and nil our roomservice balance. will i travel again maybe. but room service definately needs to improve.

The hotel area is lovely with loads of trees, flowers and other plants. The hotel is situated next to the nicely quiet stretch of beach of Pantai Tengah (the beach area is tranquille, but the pool area can be a bit noisy and crowded). You can walk to Pantai Cenang, where most of the action and restaturants are. Or you can just take a taxi for 6-8 ringit (1,5-2 euro).

The standard rooms are spacious and clean. However, I would recommend keeping the tap on sink/bathtub during the night so that you won't find cockroaches or similar in the bathroom when the morning comes. I assume this applies to all the places around here...

The breakfast has a nice selection and you can get decent lunch from the bar, but I would recommend sticking to the local specialties. Many guests seemed to enjoy their dinner at the hotel restaurant, too.

I did try the hotel spa and took the 45 min back massage, which was ok. It is done in Malay style and is quite hard - somewhere between Western and Thai massage. So if you are very sensitive, maybe some other treatment would be better.

The only negative thing about the hotel is the lack of shade/umbrellas. If you want to get a shady place in one of the "cottages" or a nice spot underneath a palmtree, you have to reserve it very early in the morning.

But I love it that the hotel really is eco friendly - more of these! In general I would rate the hotel around 3-4 stars, but the "ecoing" deserves a fiver!

Booked a family room in August, 6 months before our stay but the hotel messed up the booking for our room so for the first night we had 2 adjoining deluxe rooms - they were cramped, dark and filthy (see my photo of the bath from room 113). We were made to feel as though they were doing us a favour by giving us 2 rooms for the night even though we didn't get the 2nd room until 9pm and had to wait for a cot to be delivered (even though this was requested at the time of booking). This is unacceptable with a newborn baby and a young child. When we finally got the room we booked we were impressed - it was spacious and had a lovely view of the sea. Requested a ground floor room as it is more convenient with our baby;s pushchair but we were given a first floor room so we had to take the pushchair up and down the stairs several times a day. Reception staff were unhelpful and we were ignored at reception when we were trying to sort out the problems with our rooms. Very slow service in the restaurant. Good location as near to other restaurants and spas.

Room Tip: Family rooms are a must if you have kids.

We stayed at Frangipani Resort for 4 nights, the Hotelrooms itself are very old, there are nowhere sunshades at the whole resort, so sunburn is predeterminded! Dirty beach, dirty poolarea, damaged barstool... simple sloppy! The staff was distracted and the management staff was nowhere in view. We will never stay there!

The Frangipani is such a pleasant place to stay. We managed to get a beach room which is sort of a Brick and tiled hut on the beach. The view was spectacular. We were booked to stay in another resort but thanks to the reviews on trip advisor we changed that booking. The resot is a little dated but that just adds to the charm. It is close to the airport and in short walking distance to some of the islands fantastic resturants.

The staff were friendly and the happy hour goes for three hours and the bar girls were faqntastic. Breakfast was plentiful but as the island is in Malaysia dont expect any bacon or pork products. The beef bacon is very ordinay so try and stay clear of it.

Overall, if you are looking for something very laid back, clean with a great view then this is your place. Be aware that Langkawi is not as fast paced or advanced as say Penang so be sure to set your mind to island time and enjoy the experiance.

Room Tip: Ask for anything with an ocean view.

The Frangipani is an okay hotel, when it comes to its decor, etc. Everything is rather outdated and could use a pick-me-up. However, it is in a very central and peaceful location, with a clean and calm beachfront. The hotel is perfect if you have young children, as the pool and beach areas are spacious and kid-friendly. There are also many delicious restaurants right outside of the hotel. The service is so-so, everyone was pleasant enough, though not as friendly as staff would be in a Balinese hotel (for example). If you can get a good deal to stay at the Frangipani and you want a relaxing time at a chill hotel, it's worth a try.

a great place to stay, beautiful setting on the beach, wonderfull sunsets, lovely swimming pools and great beach.
Really appreciated the general manager"geoffrey" coming most days to talk to us and other fellow residents.
its really good the eco friendly practises that they follow, we were very impressed.
we also were very impressed with the friendliness and happiness of all the staff, never experienced this before "anywhere".
thoroughly enjoyed our holiday.
