We arrived a little bit early for the ferry but had a pleasant wait in the shelter provided by the hotel. Your bags are loaded onto the boat and you are met on the other side by buggy and taken to the lobby.
Check in was quick and easy but for some reason everything was directed at my husband with only the cookery demonstration being aimed at me.
Our room was spacious and comfortable with a partial sea view. I think unless you are in blocks 8, 9 or 10 which are directly on the beach then it's not worth paying extra for just a partial view. The grounds are lovely with oriental pied hornbills, orioles, drongos and monitor lizards. In the room our only small gripe was with the noisy aircon and fan which probably just need a bit of a service.
This resort is away from it all so come prepared with reading matter or you won't enjoy yourselves. There are very few other activities but the complimentary morning walk with Dev's Tours is worth doing as you learn so much more about the wildlife around the resort. Apart from the birds which included a pair of nesting White-bellied sea eagles we also saw sea otters on their regular jaunt past the resort.
Some people complained about the planes but if you look at the schedule there are only18- 20 planes a day. Each plane takes about 30 seconds to fly over so weigh that against the absence of traffic noise and in my mind the planes are no problem.
Food in the restaurant was good - we always ate off the Asian menu. It is a wee bit expensive but by the time you've paid for a taxi on Langkawi island it works out about the same. Happy hour was a bit of a strange system with 6-7 at the beach bar ( we were only ones there) then7-8 at the bar inside. All the drinks for the beach bar have to come from the inside one so why not just have happy hour at both for two hours.
We just loved staying on the beach and reading or swimming. The pool staff are really helpful and friendly and set up towels for you. The quality of towels is very good. The pool is clean and often only had a couple of people in it. The highlight for me was watching a sea otter snacking on a fish just 50 metres away from me as I was swimming.
We will definitely come back here as we loved the laid back feel. Other people tho complained about the lack of activities, the fact there is only one restaurant and the planes. So if you do chose to come here just come prepared.
