“Ok-place for company retreat with families coming along”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 December 2011

We stayed there for 4 nights the week (Dec. 2011), on our Institute Retreat. Many of our staff came with families. The place is ok, the pool is great for the kids. Yes, there are shortcomings in the management and the cleanliness and the food, but when you are friendly to the people at the hotel, they are also friendly with you, and correct their mistakes. For me, it was not the best place to stay, but also far from being the worst place I ever spent some time for a retreat. They started to do Christmas decoration, and had a little snowman, and I was touched. The internet is working fine, the meeting rooms are ok, the rooms are also ok, the food is not so great, and they have newspapers in the lobby. I think the magic word is "friendliness" - if you as a guest treat the people there well, they treat you well.

Room Tip: There are rooms with very nice sea view.

We stay there on 2 Dec 2011. From the website, the hotel look quiet decent. With the price range, it should be a average budget hotel. This was on my mind when I was booked. Once reach there, I am really surprise. The hotel is only 6 years old, but the 9 class management made is looked like 10 years old or more. The 2 rooms apartments given was very dirty. There is even mold on the towel provided. Spider can be found in the bath room. Bad smell in the room. The buffer breakfast also is bad with flies flying around. Everything can be summary in 1 phrase, bad management. If given a choice, I will not stay there and will not even recommend anyone to stay there.

We wanted to have a wonderful family gathering for Deepavali - 26 Oct 2011. Made reservation for two 2 bedroom apartment (requested side by side) for a two night stay (26 & 27 Oct). Lesson no 1 - dont believe advertising materials (viewed on the internet). When I noted that the reception had Hari Raya Decoration (30 & 31 Aug 2011) still hanging there and the office near the lift had Chinese New Year Decoration (3 & 4 Feb 2011) on its door, knew that service would have extra dosage of lacklustre.

Request for side by side, never got it. Towels - discoloured and stained. Bedsheets - stained. TV - channels not properly set, remote not functioning except for on/off button. No Astro, inhouse video or Vision 4. Sofa set - sinking in the middle, justing waiting to snap. Towels and bedsheet were changed immediately upon complaint (not too bad for responsive service but should have been done initially). Unfortunately room was not made on the 2nd day till we checked with the reception at around 8pm.

Breakfast for both days were the same - Fried Koay Teow/Rice/Chicken Curry/Baked Beans/Grilled Sausage/Fried Egg (Counter)/Congee/Curry Mee/Toast/Cordial/Coffee & Tea - 2 star Hotel serves more or less the same with variations!!

Gymnasium was kept locked and was only opened upon request. The equipments were not functioning. No wonder the gym is being kept locked up.

The water theme park needs proper maintenance and definately no invisible lifeguards. Our kids had a wonderful time splashing away in the water without worries of imminent danger. The eldest, 14yrs old ended up with a gash just above his left eyebrow which required 2 stitches. The poor boy didnt even know how he got the cut. That was his Deepavali present from the management of Marina Cove! Suprisingly no management staff were around when we wanted to complain. The service staff were of no help either.

Over-rated & Over-priced for the services rendered.

Sad to say, a good holiday resort being flushed down the drain by poor management.

I will not be recommending this place to my friends. My kids will be rating their regrettable outing in their FB soon.

We had a good time staying in this hotel. The hotel room we took was with a balcony which was facing the pool... Good view over Marina Island. I had a very good time with my girlfriend.. She enjoyed it too...

I went to this resort in March 2011 with my 2 kids, 11 and 4 years old..My wife gotta stay at KL to finish her never ending work and issue us a Get Out of Jail Free Pass for 2 nights... 8-) ...

At that time Japan was just devastated by the earthquake and tsunami and naturally people tend to avoid the beach like the plague...So I opt to go to any resort or hotel that have swimming pool without going to Pangkor...

Well, there are few alternatives, the other two hotel/resort that have such swimming pool is Swiss Garden and Orient Star and both are beyond of my budget which is less than RM150 (USD30) /night...So I opt for this resort because they have free wifi as well

I believed this resort are built to cater the corporate client (read: Company holding their Family Day function). This is because they have wide selection of room, either hotel type or apartment type..and if you wanna bring a big family and don't mind to cramp a little bit you can bring your own comforter or well known as toto among local and sleep on the floor.. Their Family Executive room can easily accommodate 6 - 8 ppl...but there is only one bathroom and toilet in there so you gotta alert if somebody brings today newspaper into the toilet as your turn will be 10-20 minutes after that....(depends if that person got constipation or not)

If you come to this resort and seek to be entertained by the idiot box you are in such a wrong place..There is no ASTRO/(Satelite Transmission) the terrestrial tv reception is as lousy as TV1 Intisari Rancangan (Govt TV Guides) .. I don't know about other room but mine cannot watch TV3...

Breakfast: Mass production of nasi lemak, kuey teow and porridge. Got sausage and rendang as well. The toast is served with cheapest margarine, kaya and fruit jam. You pay peanut and not expecting to get peacock right?

Dinner: There is a seafood restaurant located next to the resort... Seems there are only 3 of us and my youngest is only interested to run and created havoc and mischief at there I ordered a BBQ mackerel, tomyam (hot seafood broth) for one, deep battered prawn for two, and fried kailan mixed with salty fish for one pax and two glasses of maximize diluted fruit juice for our dinner... Total cost? RM32 = USD10 = 1,000,000,000,000,000 Tanzanian Dollar.

Swimming pool: The kid section is quite small and the adult is twice bigger than it...usually the kid pool is always crowded right? The architect responsible maybe never go to the 4 star hotel in his life...After watching my kids swim (bath is actually the most accurate definition) with urine and fart and clorine soaked water I haul them up to go to the other attraction beside the resort...which is the cheapest water theme park I ever found in Malaysia...The review? That review need to wait as I haven't sweep the house and my wife is coming back soon....

Room Tip: Located quite near to teluk batik

When we opened the door the 1st impression is the room is as budget hotel which cost abt RM60 per nite.. We wanted to check out immediately but we have paid full amount.. Too bad..!
The bedsheets was dirty which I think they did not change after the previous guests used them. The room was dusty..! Lucky the bathroom is clean. TV is small..
There was no towels in the room. When we received the towels from housekeeping, one of them is so dirty as floor mat.
Disappointed for the price I have paid..!

Went to stay at this hotel on 26th Dec 2010 after seeing their nice billboard on Marina Water Park. As my children would want to spent time at the water park decided to check-in to this hotel. Reached there almost at 3:30pm and was told by the Reception there may be rooms available but could not confirm until 5:00pm. However, I told them that I wish to be put under wait list and the Reception asked whether I would pay by cash or credit card. When i told them card, I was told to produce card and was charged for 1-nite. But still could not check-in though you have been charged for 1-nite already, reason being - 1. must wait for all booking guests to check-in first - 2. room not ready.

Then decided to go to waterpark first since cannot check-in. FYI waterpark and hotel is linked. When buying ticket, was told that kids ticket is only applicable for kids below 4ft and kids above 4ft is considered adult. In my opinion, the notice is considered misleading, the Park management need to re-write the notice for a clear understanding. Moreover, the ticket price of RM5 for infant until 4 ft height is considered unreasonable when other waterpark throughout Malaysia don't charge for kids under that range. The ticket operator also asked for room number @ Marina Bay to give a discount of 20%. But % also based on the room you take. If you take a deluxe room that can accommodate 3 pax, then you will get discount for 3-pax only.

At the Water Park. It was so obvious that the water is damned dirty. Felt so reluctant to allow my kids to go into the water but kids being kids, they insisted on playing and moreover have paid for the entry. I wonder what is the Management doing with the fees they collected for the entrance, when looking at the condition, it clearly shows that maintenance for the waterpark is not properly done. It is such a waste, coz by looking at the crowd, can see that business are there. Before anything happened to the children, as patron are mostly children, the Management need to do something about the darn filthy water.

The hotel room is not bad, very spacious and presentable. Only thing, the air-cond is not cold and there is no ASTRO. Have to depends on TV but that also the reception is bad. The restaurant food, i mean the buffet breakfast is damn lousy. Food is not nice at all. For a hotel which have Sherwood name tag along with it, they should have maintain their standards, at least international standards.
