We stayed in the Chulia Heritage hotel for 4 nights with our 2 young boys. The location is fantastic, shared bathrooms are clean and beds are comfortable. The only downside of the hotel is that it is very noisey due to the wooden floors. I was woken numerous times in the night by people coming home and just hanging around talking in the main area. The free bikes are great to use.

Good location. Able to walk to many things worth seeing in the city. Room however is very small, much smaller than stated when booking and the smallest bathroom i have seen at a hotel. Staff was friendly though.

Stayed here three nights. The room is ok, but we were on the ground floor, that meant our view was a wall and it was noisy because it was in the lobby. Sounds strange, but in the lobby are multiple rooms. Furthermore when you shower the whole bathroom gets wet because there is no cabin. Also it wasn't possible to get a spare key to the room of our small children.

The pictures of this hotel show a very different place. There are positives: The hotel is cheap and very well located for everything in Georgetown. However I feel the negatives outway the positives. When we arrived the room smelled stale and damp and that stayed the whole 3 days, it was because the air conditioning had not been serviced. The aircon was also on full blast the whole time and could not be turned off. The room was not cleaned the first night. There was a slightly damp dirty feeling the whole time. Generally I would say there are other accommodations in Georgetown that would be of a much higher standard for the same price. Tolerable but I would not recommend.

Chulia Heritage Hotel is just off the Main Street, with a private drive and car park. When you drive up to the hotel you think wow, this looks pretty good. Which kind of lulls you into thinking your getting something completely different from what you actually get. Don't get me wrong, I was fully understanding of what we had opted for but in the foyer area the hotel shouts 'vintage upmarket'.
So, check in was good, very simple and effective and the staff were so helpful during our stay, even printing off some boarding passes for us. They catered for all our needs.
The room, basic but clean and tidy. Bed was comfortable. Air con was amazing, kept us nice and cool! Only problem was the plug sockets hadn't really been thought out, one socket and up high, so our charging stuff had to dangle down or rest on top of the wardrobe.
The bathroom situation, shared, as mentioned by others. Kind of reminded me a little bit like a Formula1 Hotel, if you know of them. If you don't, there bathrooms are toilet, shower over the top with wash hand basin. This was the same. Ok if you don't mind sitting on a wet toilet seat! Also very slippery, so flip flops provided but when you just want a quick wee you get wet feet!
We were grateful for the heated water machine in the foyer landing, meant we could make baby bottles of formula. Would have been good if there was a water cooler too.
Wi-if is pretty slow but better down in reception so I sat down there, but don't try uploading loads of photos etc. It won't work!
Location of the hotel is central to George Town, everything is in walking distance, although George Town is pretty hard to walk around due to the lack of pavements. But we managed. Bus services are good too. Free bus drops you within walking distance of the hotel.
We enjoyed our stay and due to the backpacker vibes in George Town we knew that other places would probably be louder whereas this place is better for families on a budget. Great for the price.
Rooms downstairs had private bathrooms which if I went back I would definitely do and recommend.
