Excellent choice for accommodation in Georgetown!

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jul 14, 2017via mobile
The staff is extremely accommodating, friendly, honest and helpful. They will take the time to personally get to know you and make sure you have everything you need. I stayed there a few nights and loved it! Clean, cozy and well located. Highly recommend to everyone!

When we arrived, we immediatly found the place cozy and relaxing (thanks to the water fountain) The staff is nice, especially Yakob who started talking with us even though it wasnt his shift. We slept on the 8 person dorm. The air conditionner was satisfying and we even had curtains for intimacy. We recommend.

The difference at this establishment is the knowledge that the staff have about the city and they share it with you willingly!!! For exemple the best Tandori chicken restaurant or how to get to our next destination in a cheaper way.

Full of BED BUGS and not really nice staff.
I wouldn't go there again. Penang is full of hostels, so try another one.

CHINCHES en las habitaciones y mala respuesta por parte de los encargados del hostel. Probad con otro.

Don't go to this hostel. We booked a double room and after having all our things inside all day, we arrived at night and saw HUGE BEDBUGS. Even the sheets were full of blood spots of previous customers.
They moved us to two separate dorms and due to all the problems we didn't have much time to sleep. Despite all the inconvenience, having our backpacks infested with bedbugs and even if the manager told us we would be refunded at night, they made us pay for the two beds in different dorms.
They lied saying it was the first time and then we discovered many other reviews talking about the same.
The staff members were unhelpful but especially Paul, RUDE, ARROGANT and DISRESPECTFUL.
We don't understand why the hostel has such a good rating, it's not clean, not well maintained and has nothing exceptional.

CouziCouji88, Manager at Couzi Couji Boutique Hostel, responded to this reviewResponded July 9, 2017

The hostel, like many others are fumigated monthly due to travelers
unsuspectingly bringing bugs in with them. This is simply something
that happens and is unavoidable, so we maintain a regular cleaning
routine. As we stated, we had had someone in the double room for 5
days before you, in fact they checked out the day you walked in and
asked if we had any rooms. They reported no issues and left happy,
we tried to explain this to you but clearly you didn't want to hear
it or accept it. You were indeed moved into a dorm but were NOT
charged for it as you state, the manager spoke to you that evening
and you happily accepted his offer to move you to a dorm and refund
you the difference between what you paid for the room, which we had
already discounted for you. Had you decided to leave, you would have
course been offered the full refund and our sincere apologies. I
find it interesting that after you checked out, you were happy to
leave your luggage with us for several hours while you went off
exploring before returning to argue about issues we had already
spoken about and dealt with. As you left, your final words to us
were, if we refund you the full amount, you wouldn't give us a bad
review, this only leads me to believe that you were after a free
nights accommodation, I wonder how many times this has been your
tactic before. We have no issue with someone leaving a bad review
if it is indeed warranted, they allow us to see were we can improve
things and learn from each and every visitor we have. We wish you
safe and happy travels.

Advantages: Friendly owner and receptionist.
- After arriving Penang, my friend came to Couzi to check in first since I still walked around 3d street art. Unfortunately, they dont accept credit card and my friend hadnt bring enough cash. However they still let my fr get the room and ask my fr give the room rental later.
The owner can stay awake to wait us back from the pub if you notify them. (before 1am)
Room always cool enough to sleep.
Disadvantages: Hardly to connect wifi, they still have wifi but it's very weak.
Blanket and mattress are not clean so it make me itch.
