Description: In the year 1988, we first opened doors as Jaws Seafood Restaurant located on the 4th Floor of Gaya Centre. We served a fusion of Thai/Chinese Seafood Cuisine as well as Dim Sum. The restaurant also hosted banquet events up to 45 tables on a regular basis and soon earned a reputation purely by word of mouth. In 1997, we had a Vision to provide every Dear Guest with our slogan "Where very meal is an Experience". We decided to relocate and rebrand to something BIGGER and BETTER. Every aspect was painstakingly thought of from the Minangkabau -style architecture 'floating' on the lake in a botanical park, the 'floating' performance stage, the naming of the buildings, and to the menu creation. Hence the birth of Kampung Nelayan Floating Seafood Market Restaurant. Currently, we are the ONLY restaurant in Kota Kinabalu to present a NIGHTLY Cultural Dance Performance from 7.45Pm to 8.45Pm showcasing the Largest Indigenous Ethnic Groups in Sabah. Guests are encouraged to get up on stage to participate in some of the dances. We have also achieved a reputation of being one of the Most Unique Dining Experiences in Kota Kinabalu.

Away from the busy traffic jam of Kota Kinabalu waterfront where the usual seafood restaurants are located. Ample parking lots with huge dining areas. Fresh sea foods with compatible prizes. Fast service and there is a cultural show which is rather interesting to watch. Only the fish is not that great but the rests are ok. The place is less touristy and you can see locals eating there.

Very impress about the freshness of the seafood there. Reasonable price and good number of seafood variety to choose. Stage performance about locals made a great companion for the delicious dinner. Amazing performance and interactive.

I was made to understand that this Restaurant was closed permanently starting in March 2017 for some development purpose but then there's a sudden twist when the management decided to open it again. Having to hear this news from a friend made me to come and try their amazing steamboat BBQ and their delectable seafood a la carte.

Came on 30 April 2017 with a friend. Since we were both hungry and curiuous to know and taste just about everything, we decided it's best to try out dining in both the common hall and private dining room. In the private dining room, we chose to have Sah Pak Kam Hiong Style, Lala Kam Hiong Style, Fried Salted Egg Yolk Prawn, Crab Fried Chili Sauce and Grouper Thai Style Mango.

All 4 dishes were extremely delicious and to have the room for ourselves was indeed an amazing experience as we had the privacy needed, away from the crowd. There was a staff on standby all the time to help us with things that we needed. She was very polite, friendly, attentive and smiled genuinely. Great service I say.

That said, I recommend this private room if you need a space for about 10 pax, if you are in a bit larger group, I think they can arrange things for you so that your group can have dinner privately. After that amazing dinner, we decided to see what's new in the common hall.

In the previous visit, we had the BBQ Steamboat in another separate area from the a la carte customers. Since their re opening, they have combine both a la carte and BBQ Steamboat into one big common hall. This is a clever idea as all will have the chance to enjoy the cultural performance.

The Cultural Performance was very interesting and the performers themselves will ask people/diners to join them on stage. I saw many people having great time learning the steps of Sabahan Traditional Dances.

The BBQ Steamboat was another interesting dining experience. While we were actually full, we still wanted to try some, out of curiosity. It's the same as in our previous visit and of course more interesting as we get to see the cultural performance. Since we love taking photos, we had no difficulties in moving around taking all the pics we wanted. We truly enjoyed the experience.

Overall, we enjoyed the experience. Despite few negative reviews from TA members, we think that this place is worth visiting. For independent travelers, getting here is easy. There are UBER and GRAB service in Kota Kinabalu, much cheaper than the taxi. The staffs were all efficient and they seemed to know what they are doing. This is a restaurant that you must visit if you come to Kota Kinabalu.

For Muslim visitors, this restaurant is Muslim Friendly. We are sure to come back for more great dining experiences!

Very eager to try this place out but it was a disappointment. Despite the good reviews, we felt this was not worth it.
The prawn they served is not fresh despite having an aquarium. I guess they just make us think it is fresh but actually the prawn is not from the aquarium. What marketing!
The steamed fish is OK but the sauce/gravy that it was served in is poor - just plain soya sauce with little to no spice. Some places have onions, chilli, ginger that adds to the aroma and flavour of the dish.
For 10 pax, it costs us about RM800 - which is expensive, considering that the food is low quality.
Nothing to rave about.
Will NOT visit again.
