“Recommended for a slice of Malay cultural history.”

The Muzeum Negari Complex is a few km outside of KT. It has a large parking lot and several areas. The largest is a huge concrete Malay style bunker which houses several floors of interesting displays. You pay admission to go in to this building. We were only interested in the external displays of old Malay architecture and the seafaring exhibits which were all external and open air set up along the river way. It was hot and humid going but we really enjoyed it. The signboards were in both Malay and English and quite informative. There were several examples of housing from simple fishing huts to wooden palaces, and several examples of boats from dug-out canoes to large sea faring boats - some structures and boats you can even go into. Surprisingly we didn't have to pay to enjoy these external exhibits. Recommended for a slice of Malay cultural history.

This museum is impressive - obviously a lot of money and time had been spent on developing it. The museum covers many areas of the local area - weapons, history, religion over three floors. We are not Malaysian so we thought that it would be a short visit but we were there for more than two hours. There is a large, tree covered area outside where there is a collection of traditional houses. Of course, there is an restaurant on site where you get food for a couple of ringget. Go and visit!

I'm impressed with the museum architecture is based on the traditional Terengganu Malay house there can be seen in the village all over Terengganu state. And it's huge.
The collection of the museum comprises a good cross section to give the visitor an understanding of the history and culture of Terengganu people.

firstly, I'm impressed with the museum architecture. it's intricate wood carving and it's huge! entrance fee is RM5, but you can see a lot about the history of terengganu state. you probably need to spend half day to compete the tour. I love the painting in the museum, so alive. the exhibition of the textile also nice. one thing to improve is they should provide guide map for visitors so we know where to go, and what are actually they have in the.museum since they have 3 blocks altogether.
and I guess they also offer private function here. we see they hold a wedding event on the ground.
