This is a wonderful resort. Three separate swimming pools, one for families one for adults and a length pool near the gym & Spa. The beach is wonderful and the sea nice & warm.
There are five different dining places, the main dining room is a buffet style eat all you can and is the breakfast area as well. There is a restaurant near the beach which serves mainly seafood and does a lovely lunch menu. Sapori is Italian cuisine (Pizza, pasta etc). The Chinese restaurant was lovely with a wide choice. Our favourite was Hasu the Japanese restaurant fabulous food (The sea bass & salmon sashimi were to die for.)
The staff were very friendly & helpful.
We went all inclusive and felt it was excellent value. OK there are some things that have to be paid for but genuinely everything that was all inclusive was good quality from the cocktails to the South African fizz.
The golf at Annahita was great but Iles aux Cerfs is a world class track, just getting there is special, a ten minute boat ride to the island.
A massive thanks to all the staff who did everything they could to make this one of the best holidays ever.

Room Tip: We were in the furthest rooms from the poll etc. It was a ten minute walk, but very quiet.

Good things about the hotel...

-great location/buildings/weather
-amazing pastry chef!
-amazing spa
-impressive improvement in customer service overall through the years we have visited (though not at kids club)
-great bar service around the poolside

Bad things/thing that could be better...

-kids club is not great - this really needs fixing to get a 5 star review in my opinion
-not enough parasols/shade by pool/beach
-not enough to do inside if it’s raining/midday sun
-vegetables at buffet restaurant could be slightly less well cooked!

We’ve been on holiday here with our two kids now 7 and 5 years old, for the last three years. It’s a real shame that such a great hotel has such a lacklustre kids club which has deteriorated with each visit.

The staff at kids club, although seemingly patient and kind-natured, are prone to miscommunication. The kids club activities are badly organised and lacklustre (see below for details). In addition, there are no longer any working computers or games consoles in the club (which makes it considerably less attractive to my 7 year old). The toys and games there are few and aged.

The problem with a not so good kids club is that the kids don’t want to go to it. So if you do take them there for a couple of hours, instead of relaxing and enjoying time off from parenting you just feel guilty. Or you just don’t put them in and spend the entire holiday parenting with no break. That’s not really a holiday for everyone in the family.

Kids club really needs an injection of time and money, and then I could give long Beach a 5 star review!

As examples of not great service...
When asked if there were computers they said. “Yes.” Asked if they work. “No.” When asked if there’s a games console “Yes, but it’s in the ping pong table area not kids club.” When asking in this area “No there is no games console here.”

After returning from “Mixology, learning to mix alcohol free cocktails activity” my kids told me only two children from the group got to do the mixing, they could only taste the drink. Asking about this at kids club the staff denied this, but on pressing them they said they didn’t actually do this (with no explanation). Perhaps there was a timing issue, but why not just say?

During a “flower picking activity” the kids weren’t told the names of any flowers they picked. When asking them where their bunch of flowers were, they said they were only told to pick the heads of flowers and had to throw them away after the activity.

The other problem with kids club is that if they are not eating lunch with the club (e.g. they’ve had a late breakfast) but we need to leave them there over the lunch break (staying indoors during the hottest hours is advised after all) there is no staff to watch over them/engage in any activity during this time which I think is a massive failing on the hotels part. This could be a prime time for kids attending the club from 11:30 to 1:30 in the shade. Why not get some more indoor activities for this?

I so wanted to love this hotel (considering the cost of the trip and expectation of a nice family holiday).... but too many obstacles prevented me from fully enjoying our stay.

Positives:

Waiters, bar staff, cleaners etc are all very good and friendly especially at the bar pool and tides.

Quality of food is good (especially Tides, which has a great beach location) and chopsticks was very tasty.

Good choice of wine and high standard.

Lovely pool area and generally the hotel has been well designed giving an eco feel.

We didn't use the kids club but my husband and son played football each afternoon and they really enjoyed this. The sports rep is very friendly and enthusiastic.

Location and beach is fantastic.

Negatives:

We went all inclusive but it really isn't all inclusive. Too many items have extra charge like lots of food and drink items and mini bar (even coffee in room).

The buffet restaurant for breakfast and dinner is too small and doesn't have enough seating or varied food. There seemed to be some strange allocation of tables each night also.

We booked a junior suite with beach access. On arrival the lock to our door did not work. We had to wait in the heat for around 30 minutes while someone was fetched to fix the lock. After a 12 hour flight with a one year old and nine year old, this didn't bode well.

We were given a "free" bottle of sparkling wine the next evening to say thank you. However, the lock kept breaking, meaning I wasted several hours waiting for someone to let me in the room and then to get it fixed. It always happened at nap time for my son so really not ideal.

After the third time we were asked if we wanted to move rooms. We agreed but were then given a smaller room. We had to complain to get moved to the same size room. Again wasted time packing everything and moving rooms twice. No communication or apology from management.

Overall we felt that the hotel needs a revamp in terms of its approach to make it a real 5* destination.

My family and I spent 2 weeks at Long Beach in early January 2018 for my Wedding and Holiday. From the moment we arrived we knew we had made an amazing choice. Upon arrival the hotel was impressive, modern and very clean.

Throughout the 2 weeks of our absolutely fabulous stay we couldn't fault a thing of the hotel and services. The staff are just the most amazing and friendly hotel staff I have experienced.

The 'Wedding in Paradise' package we selected for our wedding was perfect from the moment we arrived. The wedding coordinators Isabelle and Morna made us feel so special from the first day we met them to start arrangements until the day we left. They went through every detail and was completely stress-free.

The days leading up to the big day were fabulous and the day itself was just 'Magical'.

The 'Wedding in Paradise' option gets my highest recommendation. The package speaks for itself as it truly was paradise. The photographer and musical trio included in the package were completely wonderful and made the day that extra special. We opted to pay extra for a videographer and was the best decision we made to capture our perfect and magical day.

But moreover the 'Wedding in Paradise' doesn't then stop once the day is over as the celebrations continued until the day we checked out with Breakfast in bed, Romantic Bath, Feet in the Sand, Afternoon Tea and having a fantastic time reviewing our photos and video.

We have the most amazing Wedding Album, DVD and most of all our ever-lasting memories of a fabulous time we spent at Long Beach.

I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel for a Wedding and Family Holiday. Our group ranged from aged 5 to 55 and every single one of us had the most amazing time.

We will without doubt return to Long Beach for many years to come and it will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

We’ve just returned for a weeks stay at Longbeach and had a wonderful time. Its a beautiful hotel and beach, if we’re being totally honest its not quite up to the standard of a Lux* or Four Seasons that we’ve stayed at previously but it is considerably cheaper so for us it was a really good find.

Rooms
- We we’re upgraded to a junior sea view suite (room 320) which was large with two bathrooms, a bedroom and a lounge/separate bedroom. The room was clean, modern and a nice bathroom. The hotel has been open for 6 years and the bedrooms probably need a little bit of a revamp soon (some slight signs of wear and tear but nothing too bad).
- Toiletries in the room are lovely and made locally in Mauritius - very good shampoo and conditioner and they smell amazing.
- UK plug sockets in the room which is very handy.
- Only slightly disappointing thing was we had paid for a sea view room and although you could see the sea, it was quite obstructed by the large trees and palm trees in front, we were expecting a better view if totally honest and did move rooms to get a slightly better view.
- One other small thing, we kept getting charged for some mini bar items we didn’t use - so keep an eye out for that!

Restaurants
- We were all inclusive and there are 5 restaurants in total, 4 that are included in the all inclusive and a Japanese that you get a 900 rupee credit for per person.
- Slight gripe with the fact that there are quite a few things on the menu that are not included in the AI personally think that if you are AI then everything should be covered - maybe a steak or something is an additional cost but there were on some menu’s quite a lot of dishes that were not included. However, that being said, there is still plenty of choice and we didn’t find it too repetitive for only a weeks stay.
- Our favourite, by far, was the Japanese restaurant everything we ate was delicious and we ate there twice. The 900 rupees per person goes quite a long way (basically a main course each).
- Breakfast was delicious, lots on offer and nespresso coffee.
- We really enjoyed Le Marche (the main buffet), Sopari (Italian) although we found is best for lunch and to stick to pasta, pizza and salad. Tides was also good for lunch however we found their menu the most limiting - most things on the menu were additional costs and actually the food wasn’t quite as good as others.

Hotel
- The hotel’s design and architecture is quite impressive, very modern but in keeping with the local area at the same time. Shores bar has the most amazing view out to the sea and we enjoyed many cocktails there!
- Beach is idyllic, white sands and turquoise sea with plenty of sun loungers and places to sit. The sand is a little coarse in places due to the dead coral being washed up. The hotel advises sea shoes but we didn’t have any and were totally fine.
- The hotel offers lots of free water sports which is included in your AI package which was really great and we took full advantage of (waterskiing, hobi cat, windsurfing paddle boarding etc). They also have two snorkelling boat trips out to the reef a day which were good, we are a bit spoilt after recently going to the Maldives so the snorkelling didn’t quite match up to that - but was still pretty good and lots of beautiful fish to see.

People
- The beach boys were brilliant, always with a smile on their face and always coming to your sun bed to see if you would like anything and even cleaning your sunglasses for you.
- The waiters and waitresses were also very good, maybe not as 5* as we would have expected but always friendly and with a smile on their face, just not as polished as other 5* resorts that we have been to.

Transfer
- We arranged a private transfer directly with the hotel which was well worth the extra money it was about £90 return and made the whole journey easier and much more pleasant after a long flight.

Overall a great stay and would definitely go back.
