“Amazing Honeymoon”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 May 2012

We stayed at Le Victoria in Sept 2011 for 2 weeks on our honeymoon.
The hotel is fantastic in everyway - could not fault a single thing about it!!
The food, drinks (incl. cocktails!!), rooms and staff are all great.
Would recommend this hotel for anyone. We are spoilt now after staying here!!

This is the 1st time we have travelled to Mauritius with our children of which it will always be extremely memorable as we celebrated 2 special occasions. Our wedding and my 40th on the same day. We chose Mauritius as there is only 1 wedding per day unlike other areas of the world where there can be more than one wedding. The hotel was great food brilliant the staff are amazing and nothing is too much trouble. We had a lovely wedding co-ordinator Marisa who organised everything perfectly. The staff are so friendly and accomodating no matter where they work. The hotel was very clean, towels changed twice a day. We had x2sup rooms interconnecting on the first floor which was perfect. There is a minibar in the room which certain things are extra eg. chocolate, pringles which can be very pricey. The decor in the rooms is lovely and very clean. The bathrooms are nice and big with shower area and seperate bath with 2 sinks and seperate toilet. The balcony had a lovely view of the gardens which are beautifully kept and a view of the beach. Their are X3 restaurants x2 are an extra premium but we stayed at the hotels all inclusive restaurant Le Superbe. We were more than pleased with everything there. The food, the service the variety of the buffet was great with some themed nights too. The pool is very child friendly and not very deep so children can play volleyball in pool with animation team etc....We spent most of our time on the beach as we enjoyed the view and the space. The sand is nice but beware of the rocks and sea urchins. Make sure you take beach shoes if you dont you can buy in the shop in the hotel not sure how much though. Our amazing day was amazing the wedding took place around 4pm which is a great time of day as you can catch the sunset for photos after. We got married on the beach under the wooden Gazebo/studio that has a thatched roof. They decorated it wonderfully with voile curtains, the arch we had and winged back chairs had all the tropical flowers that matched my bouqet at an extra price well worth it photos are amazing. I also requested the Mauritian Sega troop dancers to escort me to the beach. They then danced for us and had photos with us. It was the best. Thankyou Le Victoria we will remember it forever.

We have just returned from a wonderful week staying here and felt I just had to write and say how excellent this place was. The service was excellent, staff very friendly. The food was nice, buffett style every night, but they do have 2 alternative restaurants which you need to book for. We tried the Seafood restaurant which was also very nice.
The beach though was a little dissapointing , as it has lots of coral, so you really need beach shoes to walk into the water. We did the Catamaran trip to Le Ceref, the catamaran itself was great, the waterfall they show is very small, the snorkeling was really dissapointing (you see better fish doing snorkelling from the resort), but the beach you get to spend 2 hours on is great. It's a long day though, they pick up at 7.30am getting back at 6pm. 4 hours of that is drivng, 2 hours there and back !!. I think I would rather do one of the other trips up to the northern islands, if I went again. Overall though a very nice relaxing holiday.

I'd rate this a 4 star hotel except for food, atmosphere and entertainment. All 3 of these i'd rate a 3. Food: every alternate night is "International fare"....alternating with Chinese, Indian, Creole. Here they just don't cut it...there is enough food, but really nothing spectacular, e.g Chinese night they could have gone all out to go Chinese but it seems a half hearted attempt, just so that they could also claim to do various themes! Same with entertainment & atmosphere: potential to really entertain, but seems like another half hearted attempt. Staff are excellent, really go out of there way to make you comfortable & accomodate you requirements. Rooms are spacious, grounds emaculate, beach have enough loungers, staff attentive. If u on half board, drinks are expensive! In fact everything not included in package is expensive..e.g 90 min massage Rs 3000. Taxi from hotel is double, so take a walk further out down the road towards village and you can neg. Taxi @ half the rate & if u have enough time take the bus... Bus stop 15 min walk from hotel and to Grand Baie and Port Louis bus takes 30 mins and cost Rs 56 return. Hotel Taxi return: Rs 1500, normal, non-hotel bound taxi, Rs 700 return.
However, having said this, the experience was unforgetable.

Room Tip: Don't worry too much about rooms, more or less the same, all face the garden and sea. If there...

Le Victoria hotel, situated in the north of the island is described as a 4-star hotel. Check-in was rapid and we were lead to our room. The room is quite spacious but maybe it seemed bigger due to the lack of additional furniture like a table or an extra sofa. As usual, beachcomber hotels are extremely clean with friendly and helpful staff. It was quite hot such that the pool was very tempting right-away. The hotel being full, the main (and only) pool was invaded by many children, which created a nice family ambiance, but when you just wanted to spend a calm moment to relax by the pool, it was quite difficult. I did not dare to try the sea because I was told that it was full of rocks and corals, but just spent some time on the beach, which was quite relaxing. I love trying different restaurants when i stay at hotels, I was quite disappointed this time because the restaurants 'La Casa' and 'L'horizon' were already booked. So, I had my dinner, breakfast and lunch at La Superbe, the buffet restaurant of the hotel. The food was very good with a large variety. At night, the bar is a preferred place to hang out and have some amazing cocktails. The hotel, while not having a spa, did have a gym at the basement level. A water basin, located nearby, with different coloured fish was a treat to the eyes. All in all, Le Victoria is a good weekend get-away especially if with the family.

Room Tip: Rooms on ground level with the sea-view are a must

We spent the second week of our honeymoon in Le Victoria (1st week in Legends, Grand Gaube). This is a nice hotel, but not nearly as luxorius as Legends. This is more for families, the Legends was more for honeymooners.
We still liked this hotel as a lot. Friendly service and everything worked as it was supposed to. The room was a very good size, but I woyuld have preferred other kind of decor.
The food exceeded our expectations! Especially the buffet food was excellent and we liked it even more than the food in other restaurants. Theme nights were good, especially the lobster night (costs extra).
Great over all! I would return with kids, but for a romantic getaway I would pick another hotel.

Just came back from a weekend. As this was not our first visit. We can notice the little things that show us that improvement is a continuous process.
(1) we were very pleased with the fast response to our mails
(2) the staff is quite professional, polite & ready to help. from the greeting you get at the gate when you arrive at the hotel to the check out at the reception
(3) the place itself is quite secure, with a long stretch of white sand & also a lot of plants on the garden side. This area of the island is quite good when it comes to weather
(4) the hotel keeps the Beachcomber staddard when it comes to the quality of food & service
(5) the rooms are quite spacious and well maintained
(6) This is a family place. I could see that the kids club staff were quite dedicated, running activities all day for the little ones. Although there are places like the swimming pool which can get quite busy with all the kids, we also enjoyed quiteness, on the beach with the only sound of water & birds
(7) we enjoyed our glass bottom trip. Could be some facts sheets about the fish found in the area could be included, as there were many questions.

Room Tip: There are different rooms depending on how many you are. All are spacious. There are beach villas f...
