Having read many reviews -most very positive and few negative- on Tripadvisor and other websites, we had no hesitation in booking a 3 night stay at this guest house. The term 'guest house' seemed an understatement considering the ample, comfortable and well decorated accommodation that is on offer; the rooms are clean and spacious and are set in beautifully kept gardens that are surrounded by numerous terraces to laze on, a pool to take a dip in; in short, the place is a haven to find peace and quiet and forget that there is another world out there somewhere.
The welcome we received and concern for our well-being throughout our stay, were admirable and could not be faulted.
Oh, and did I mention the food? After and extensive and varied breakfast (try the vegetable omelette !), let's just say that we were happy to return to Baoussala after our days spent exploring Essaouira and the beaches nearby, anxious like little children to see what delicacies we would be sampling at dinner, accompanied by good wine, of course.
We did have some difficulties at first in finding Baoussala but, once there, knew there was no better place for many miles around!
A big BRAVO to the Owner, Dominique, and her happy, competent and dedicated team!

This was our first (we hope of many) trip to Morocco. Essaouira was recommended to us by friends and after much research on Tripadvisor we settled on Baoussala thanks to all the wonderful reviews. The riad did not let us down.

After driving 3km down a bumpy dirt road (we recommend hiring a car if you are able - the riad is about 15mins out of town and could prove challenging to get to if relying on taxis) we arrived at this colourful oasis in the desert. We were taken to our room by Rashid who was warm and friendly from the outset. Dominique, the lovely owern, welcomed us and provided with a map and some insights into the area over sweet mint tea.

We stayed in the Harram room which was simple and white with pretty coloured glass in the roof. The room was spacious with its own sitting area not that that was necessary - there were many nooks and crannys outside outside the room on the roof, and in the common area in which to relax.

I absolutely must recommend our dining experience. Should you chose to eat in (Rashid asks your preference on the morning of) there are romantic dining areas set up around the riad for you to chose from and the food is absolutely superb! Definitely worth it for one if not all nights of your stay.

The only negative of our stay was the hot water not working in our bathroom for the first day - but once notified, Rashid promptly rectified. The electricity was out in the village for a morning which affected power to the riad but this is part and parcel of the Moroccan experience. The glass in the ceiling of our room had been cracked and went un-noticed until it rained one night. Rashid and Dominique apologies profusely for the oversight and my partner and I both noted at the end of our stay that despite these small inconveniences, the riad lived up to all its promised charm and friendliness.

We (my boyfriend and I and 2 friends, also a couple) have just returned from 3 nights at Baoussala and it was my idea of bliss. The decor is attractive and stlish but also comfortable. Situated a few km's from Essauoira makes this riad perfect for those who want to get away from it all but who also want to make the trip into Ess for the bars and restaurants at night.

Having said that the dinner offered is also yummy and very good value. Dominque (the owner) is a lovely french lady who will do anything to help you out. I will definitely be coming back here and have even suggested to my parents to take a visit next year.

Thanks Dominque and team - your hospitality was the best we experienced all holiday and we stayed in some other lovely places.

i loved Baoussala.

We're seasoned travelers in Morocco - having both worked and played there many times since 1994. You come across places like Baoussala from time to time and you'd always go back. Hidden away 3km down a track off the main road to Agadir, south of Essaouira, it was the perfect place for us to unwind, together with our children, 8 and 13, who loved the laid back atmosphere, the friendly staff, the lovely pool and the animals. Set in an idyllic shady eucalyptus grove, with well tended gardens, there are many terraces on which to sit and read, or just listen to the wind. Sure, there is more luxury to be had elsewhere in and around Essaouira, and certainly in Morocco as a whole, but it now comes at an inflated price, and Baoussala has just the right balance - it is charming, comfortable, relaxed and not expensive - nothing is too much trouble for Dominique and her staff. The food, too, is reasonably priced, delicious and plentiful, with evening meals prepared to order, light lunches from a blackboard menu by the pool, and breakfasts served wherever you care to take them. We really loved it here and yes, we'll be going back....

After quite a bumpy 12 days touring around morrocco in a hire car, Riad Baoussala was the perfect destination for the last 5 days of our holiday. This beautifully created riad, with its stunning pool, terraces and colourful Moroccan charm made for a very comfortable retreat, so much so that it was a bit of a wrench to go out sightseeing! The welcome and help from the staff was great, Dominique is a lovely host, and all of the staff were very sweet with our daughters who had freedom to rome the safe and private gardens. Also the home cooked food was really fresh and delicious - highly recommended for all those in need of a restfull and stylish retreat.
