My family (4 kids, husband) and I have had a magical holiday at Riad Baoussala. We stayed for 5 days and enjoyed great lunches and dinners prepared by lovely Loubna, and served by wonderful Rachid. All off the staff were very friendly and made a lot of effort in taking care of us. The rooms are big and comfortable. And very nicely decorated. Essaouira is only a little drive away. The riad arranges your taxi, the drivers are very helpful, friendly and accurate. The swimming pool area is also really lovely, relaxing you can do everywhere on the premises. There are little corners, in the shade, hammocks, comfortable chairs... And if you're lucky you also get to cuddle with the donkeys! My husband turned 50 while we were staying in the riad and all of the staff have made this an unforgettable and loving experience for us. Returning as soon as we can!

It was absolutely amazing. My family had a perfect, very impressive time staying at this wonderful riad.
The riad was decorated with exquisite taste and was clean. The garden was full with beautiful plants, the swimminpool was very clean. Each day started with delicious breakfast, the dinner was very diversified. Our wishes were satisfied. Rashid, Lubna, Simon and other employee took very good care of us, they are very child-friendly people. Dominique is very mindful host. We felt very wellcomed.

It was nothing to improve.
Thank you so much, Dominique! We definitely recommend this Riad and hope to come again.

Room Tip: To explore the nice scenery you nead a car.

Everywhere you look in this place is beauty. It has a great atmosphere and a friendly and helpful staff. Food is delicious, rooms are tastefully designed and the pool is long so you can have a real good swim. The garden is well taken care off and the sunset on the roof terrace very beautifull. The owner, Dominique makes you feel at home and is always in for a good laugh.

Room Tip: We were in the Hammam suite and it was perfect!

This is my second attempt at providing a review of our experience here. The owner/manager had my first review removed.
To be to the point, we were not told to plug in a device to repel mosquitos and so we spent the first night with them buzzing in our ears and biting us. Screens were put on the windows the next day as they were full of holes. I asked for a net, but you can see from the photo it had a huge hole in it. In addition to the mosquitos were barking dogs.
My bed was on a palet on the floor as you can see in the photo, not something I expected paying 115 euros a night ($130).
The shower was moldy and the floor tiles cracked. The room was dirty.
In addition to these frustrations this place is located 15 minutes a $10 taxi ride each way to town, this made planning meals difficult. You have to reserve 12 hours ahead to eat here so if you are in town get tired and prefer to go back and dine it's not an option if you didn't reserve ahead. We spent $40 in 12 hours just in taxi fare.
Unlike everywhere else we traveled in our 3 weeks in Morocco, we did not find the service here to be guest oriented.
We booked our stay based on the overwhelming number of great reviews and we were very disappointed to say the least. I am a guest house owner myself in rural Mexico, so I understand the challenges involved. I also know many people rely on honest opinions of other travelers. I have provided my honest experience here with photos and only hope that this time it will actually be allowed to appear.

First of all, I feel really sorry to know that you have such a bad souvenir of your stay in Baoussala. I was not here, and I am touched by your words, I do understand and regret that you feel so uncomfortable .
Despite of my comprehension , I would like to precise a few things.
Rachid is absolutely certain to to have informed you to plug again mosquitos, so I dont' know who I have to believe . You slept with the door opened, that's totally your right, but in that case what can we do against mosquitos?. I dont' wish to go in the polemics words, so I will stop here, after precising that it's not me who took off your first review, but a decision of tripadvisor, who is respecting most of the reviews.
So , I wish you the best with your guest house in Mexico, since 17 years, I am happy to run Baoussala with my heart and professionalism , and I can't be prefect.. if it means something to be perfect.
I will go ahead in the same way, and will be careful , as I am always concerning by the " bien-être" of all my guests.

We had such a brilliant and memorable stay at Baoussala. Dominique and Leah were so welcoming, and made us feel really at home. They are two wonderful ladies who helped with any request we had. They also have an incredible staff, Rashid was awesome, he was so warm and attentive every day, which can't have been easy during Ramadan. The food cooked by Lubna was beautiful, clearly made with love and was actually the best food we had in Morocco, which is saying something as we visited some of the highest rated restaurants on trip advisor.

It is a truly magical place, a little oasis of peace and tranquility, with stunning details in decor, wonderful friendly animals (the dogs and donkey who thinks he's a dog especially!!) and I can see why people go back there year after year, as testified by some of the people staying there during our visit.

Thank you so much to all at Baoussala, you made our first time in Morocco such a memorable one xxxx

We are really happy that you have such a good memory of your stay at Baoussala, maybe you will be one of our guests coming regularly like Polly, Christine, Jenny that you met during your stay...!!!!
Thank you so much for your kind words,I do appreciate.
Rachid has a big heart...that's a fantastic quality and I am very happy to work with him since 12 years. The whole staff is like my family and Baoussala vibes come from them for a big part.
We wish you the best,
Warm regards from all of us
