We appreciated the great price with the good location, simple, comfortable, clean room (at the end of the hall - 2 beds with a bath)! We enjoyed our conversations with Frank, even learning that he went to college with someone from our hometown, Louisville, KY! Great little walking town!

Room Tip: End of the hall was good for us.

This place is in a serious need of a clean. We had room 12 and the curtains were covered in dust. They had not been moved in such a long time. The shower was cold water only. The owner suggested we let the water run for twenty minutes. Still nothing. The kitchen was stocked with pans and plates, but again was dirty.
The owner, Frank, has obviously been doing this too long and has lost all interest in keeping guests happy. I would not recommend this place. Try the one on the main plaza instead.

We showed up really early (before 8 am)after taking the overnight bus from David. We had planned to ask if we could store our luggage until check in, but the owner immediately welcomed us inside and gave us the room and didn't charge us extra. The building is pretty on the inside and I am a bit sad we ate all of our meals out instead of utilizing the kitchen and dining space. Our room was comfortable enough and the
shower was warm after a few minutes. The owner was also very helpful with travel information. This is a quiet place to stay, very reasonably priced, and we enjoyed it.

Frank welcomed us when we walked in without a reservation. Over the next few days we saw him continually turn people away. There's a cute lil doggy and a loud parrot. Other than that it's a calm environment, very homey, with a kitchen for use and a lot of space to relax inside the common areas. I would recommend this to anyone! Thanks Frank.

Room Tip: We had the last room down the hall on the right and it was very quiet.

We had planned to spend only three days at Frank's pension, but enjoyed it (and Boquete) so much that we extended our stay to six.

This pension is two blocks from the central park (where the buses stop), the same distance from grocery stores and literally a minutes' walk from restaurants. It has a lovely yard (where my husband bird watched), a dining room/sitting room combined, a kitchen for communal use and several rented bedrooms. The rooms in the pension are basic and gently used; but for a hostel/pension this is definitely first class.

We rented a room with a private bathroom for $20 a night. The bed was comfortable and our room was cleaned after three days (also clean sheets). A great bargain as our room was spacious with a large double and single bed, and a dresser and closet.

The kitchen is quite large with a gas stove, many pots and pans and most of the utensils you would want. Fridge space can be somewhat limited, but we found that few other guests cooked much; besides which, we tend to purchase only what we want for one day. The dining room has four tables with four places each; the sitting area has a sofa and a couple of armchairs. The wifi was never out, but would get slow at times if several people were using it at the same time. That is par for the course almost wherever we have been, and better than many places in Central America.

The other guests tended to be Europeans and we loved exchanging travel plans and suggestions with them. This is a quiet pension, so if you are looking for a party place, this is definitely not it.

Frank has a lovely parrot (Rickie) and a dog (Lukas), so if you don't like animals, you would not enjoy your stay.

We enjoyed chatting with Frank (who is fluent in Spanish, English, Croat and who knows what else). He is a very gentle man who will offer you information if you ask, but will otherwise leave you your privacy.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and will definitely stay at Pension Marilos should we return to Boquete.

Room Tip: Our room (a double bed with a single and private bathroom, and the nearest to the living room/kitche...

My husband and I stayed two nights and were really impressed with this guesthouse. I loved the original paintings found throughout the house. The decor was was very nice. Lucas the dog is a sweetheart and Rikki the parrot wasn't friendly but I enjoyed talking to her. Frank, the owner is a soft-spoken, gentle man who was happy to give us any advise we needed about the area. The internet was slow and went down a few times.
