The hotel is not new, and not a five-star, but was great for one night when we were shopping at the outlet malls. The price is right for this hotel. The room was clean and quiet, the staff friendly, and the hotel full, which means safe to me. It is not in a sketchy part of town - it is positioned in a semi-residential area. Yes there is prison nearby, but the hotel is perfectly safe. It is close to restaurants (a really fantastic diner about three blocks away).

First of all, it was Labor Day Weekend- I wanted to stay in Syracuse, but with the state fair in town, all the hotels were very overpriced. I chose this one, just outside Syracuse. The lobby smelled like smoke and incense. The hotel itself was hard to find, because all of their outdoor lighting wasnt on. At first, I thought the hotel had closed down. My room was a smoking room (who knew that smoking rooms were still around?). The furniture was old and tired. My room would not lock well. The internet did not work at all. The breakfast was only coffee and a box of doughnuts. I turned around and did not eat any. I suppose for $50 a night, it may be ok. I wouldnt stay again.

First of all, I must say that Auburn and it's citizens are very nice. It is a lovely little town and we will return. Now, for the Super 8 motel, it was a huge disappointment. I guess it's true that you get what you pay for. Next time, I will pay extra to stay anywhere else. The first thing I noticed when we entered the lobby was the funky smell and it went through the whole hallway all the way down to our room. We had a smoking room which I understand isn't the greatest smelling room but it smelled better than the hallways. As for the room......there were burn marks, holes and stains on the inside of the comforter. The blanket looked about 25 yrs. old and also had burn marks on it. The sheets were clean but obviously well worn. The pillows were only a couple of inches thick and we ended up going out and buying some for the second night there. The reclining chair was ripped on the footrest and the springs were broken in the seat. There were also stains on the inside of the fridge. This motel is in need of a major upgrade. It was fairly clean but you could tell that the bathroom fixtures as well as the furniture and bedding need to be completely redone. I've stayed at Super 8's before and have never had this problem. I doubt that I will ever stay at one again.

The front desk staff was very friendly, we stayed for a week at the Super 8, the Air Conditioner did not work thewhole time we were at the hotel, the room cleaners was another thing, out of the week, 1 day we had no towels left in the room, another day they did not even make the bed, another day they make the bed but did not put the bed spread on, just folded it up and put it in the corner of the room. the bed was like sleeping on a cardboard box, the bed was soft but ever time you turned over it sounded like a box. This hotel would be ok for a 1 or 2 night stay. And had no pool.

Stayed at this location for two evenings (Thursday/Friday). Hotel is located on a short residential street which runs between two one-way streets. Entrance street is dark but directions on the website are very good. No difficulties finding the hotel.

Room was very clean and all components (fabrics, floor coverings, furniture, bathroom) were in good condition. Our King room contained a microwave, fridge and recliner chair. Complimentary continental breakfast consisted of the following choices - two types of cereal, doughnuts, english muffins, coffee, tea and orange juice.

Price was extremely reasonable. Much cheaper than Syracuse where one hotel with a comparable price to this Super 8 receives consistently bad reviews.

If you prefer a hotel with special ambiance and amenities, look elsewhere. If you are looking for a well-run, comfortable, affordable Super 8 stay, this place should be considered. Wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

The rooms were fine, but the hotel was unattractive, had broken blinds and screens visible from the parking lot, and was in a dicey neighborhood. The Inn of the Finger Lakes, a few blocks away, looked much more inviting. We spent one night and then moved to the Bird's Nest Motel near Skaneateles, which turned out to be cheaper than the Super 8.

Nothing fancy but our rooms were clean and well maintained. The neighborhood is a bit sketchy, including the state prison down the block but we had a fine stay here. The front desk manager was very friendly and helpful. Not as cheap as we'd expect for the area, but we were happy with our stay.
