Probably one of the most aesthetically pleasing places I've ever been to outside the US, Cafe Juanita is certainly worth the 40 minute cab ride we had to take. With friendly service and a visually pleasing interior decor, this place had us from the start. We ordered the fried Lupa Lupa, stuffed crab, and gulay vegetable dish in coconut milk. The gulay was amazing and blended well with the coconut milk and eggplant siding. The stuffed crab was delicious, having noodles and veggies stuffed in it as well. The fried Lupa Lupa was good, but it was batter fried so it was a little heavy. Overall I would recommend this place 100% if you are in Manila and want to try delicious traditional pinoy cuisine.

Our family was on the way to the airport to drop off our youngest daughter 23 years old. It was a Sunday and we have to choose a restaurant that is along the way. We were complete 3 kids and a couple and their wife and girlfriend from Singapore. Cafe Juanita is strategically located just inside Kapitolyo subdivision. At 11:30 a.m. we were already parking and surprised to see the two carparks full already that early Sunday morning. When we entered we were greeted by the owner who was there already checking the food layout in a Filipino buffet. He was kind enough to accomodate 10 people without any reservations. We even got a nice table on the second floor away from the din of the patrons on the ground floor. The buffet displayed the most popular Filipino viands from main entrees to dessert. Kare kare (ox tail), lechon kawali (crispy pork belly), rellenong bangus, sinigang na hipon (sour soup with shrimps), lumpiang ubod (young coconut heart), and halo-halo, ube and many other mouth watering dishes. Between laughter and exchange of stories, we had a sumptuous lunch. The place is well interiored exhibiting the taste of the owner from Balinese wooden sculptures to mediterranean curtain beads; from colorful vase to wall paintings. The food was just fantastic and one of us complimented the pakbet pampangueno style.

More famous for its created environment of an Asian La Cage Aux Folles than for its food, the fare is nonetheless not disappointing, with Filipino dishes and pastries and desserts as highlights. A piano-playing singer livens up the evenings.

The servings aren't so big that couples won't be able to share. But expect to bring home some food after. One of the old timers in amazing Filipino food, still amazing even with all the newer ones popping up all over the metro.

The food, the wait staff, and the management were superb! We're from NJ and revisiting the homeland after 25 years. We're not without good Filipino Restaurants in NJ but this place is at another level in terms of taste, authenticity, and service in fine dining!
