This new, well lit, quiet gallery houses an amazing collection of Impressionist art: Gauguin, Van Gogh, Monet to name a few, Matisse has his own room. If you like impressionists you are in for a treat.
The lonely planet says open from 10 but the doors don't open til 11 am.

This is the modern art section of the Pushkin museum and is first class. Staff are very helpful (there is no elevator, except for staff, but a member of staff took me through so that I could use it rather than the very high steps to the 3rd floor). There is a wide selection of art - Dufy, Matisse, Picasso, Chagall etc - and plenty of seating in most rooms. There is a small shop at Ground Floor level, and a disappointing small cafe, which could be improved, But overall it was a first rate experience. There was no waiting time to enter, and a small entry fee.
