We traveled with Holland America’s Eurodam but chose SPB to guide us in St. Petersburg after reading the excellent reviews on Trip Advisor and receiving speedy, expert service, from our first contact with SPB right through the whole process. We chose the two-day de luxe tour.

Travel is by Mercedes mini-bus with a centre aisle, twin seats on one side and single seats on the other. The diver was very skilled, and needed to be as there are traffic jams, semi-blocked streets, congested bridges and pre-arranged deadlines to contend with.

Our guide was Maria aka Masha, who proved to be both philosopher and guide with a strange inability to say the word ‘Putin’ without laughing. A genuine student of history and humanity, and a philosopher of both depth and whimsy, Masha proved a real star. This is a thorough tour that lends great insight into Russian history and character.

On a practical level, people need to know that day 1 is long, involves lots of walking, and leaves all participants so exhausted that day 2 is approached with apprehension. It need not be, for it is far less strenuous and a couple of hours shorter. Lunch is provided on both days, though it is hardly an enhancement of the day, reminding me of a million school dinners. Take your own snacks if you need genuine sustenance. Washroom breaks are available at regular enough intervals and there are only two brief stops at souvenir shops –and these serve free coffee and vodka! It is worth noting, too, that, even in the Hermitage, we were always able to view things without difficulty and places never felt overcrowded. If Masha were a soccer player, she would be Messi, for her positional sense is exceptional and her eye for an opening outstanding.

My wife and I took this cruise primarily to see St. Petersburg. Thanks to the excellent, comprehensive itinerary, brilliant guiding in fluent English and the magnificence of so many buildings, often restored to perfection after brutal desecration and destruction in WW2, we do not hesitate to recommend SPB tours.

Oh –and the owner came to greet us all at the end of the program –a pleasant, welcome touch.

We recently went on a two day Deluxe tour of St Petersburg with SPB, we were on a cruise with Celebrity cruises on the Eclipse and thought to use SPB rather than the on board tour option, although the cost was about the same, there seemed to be much more in the SPB tour and it would be with a small group (12 on our tour) rather than a large coach.

The booking process was simple and surprisingly there was no upfront payment (we paid by credit card on the first day of the tour, you also had the option to pay cash.)

We had a really great experience over the two days, our driver (Peter) and guide (Eugene) were really very good, they knew exactly what we would be interested in, were very knowledgeable and informative. They knew how to get us into each of the venues quickly so we were not caught up behind slow moving crowds.

I would certainly highly recommend SPB tours and we will definitely use this company again in the future.

My husband and I recently took the Celebrity Constellation Baltics and Russia cruise leaving Amsterdam on June 1. Although having cruised extensively we had never toured with a non-cruise line related company. Our tablemates on a previous cruise couldn’t say enough wonderful things about SPB tours and Viktoria. We decided to book the Baltic Pearls tour package including a two day deluxe tour of St Petersburg, Schwerin castle in Germany, Tallinn Estonia and Stockholm Sweden. We couldn’t have been happier with our tours. Viktoria and her staff responded to our questions promptly before the trip and were waiting on the dock for us when we disembarked. The guides were knowledgeable and able to answer questions on other country-related topics. The coaches were clean and new and the drivers picked us up promptly and conveniently when we completed a visit. We would recommend them without hesitation for anyone that wants a professional, small group experience. Thank you SPB for a great experience! Chuck and Darlene

We have just returned from our Baltic Capital tour on NCL.

It was great, although unusually warm in St. Pete's (30C).

I highly recommend SpB tours... we used them in Berlin and St Petersburg. They were excellent. I was a bit nervous since it was our first time in the area, and I had no experience with SpB. Both tours were Excellent! The guides were Excellent! I really can't say more other than there is no need to worry when you book with SpB. They took care of everything, they met us at the ship in Germany and Russia. The tours covered everything we wanted to see with knowledgeable guides and safe and comfortable transportation. the best part was that it was 1/2 the price I would have paid if we booked through the cruise line.
