Probably one of the better quality China-bred hotels in GZ but arriving in the midst of the annual Canton Fair may not be the normal barometer of its performance when services are presumably over-stretched. They took more than 40 minutes to check us (a party of 7) into our rooms - at least they were meticulous in perusing our passports in great detail to make sure everything "matched"! As usual the transaction was conducted in a very business-like manner - afterall this is a 4-star rated business hotel so at least the registration was in character! What a relief when one of the bellboys managed a small smile.

The rooms are on the upper floors of an office tower but there didn't seem to be a separate lift for the tenants so it could be a tad crowded during office hours. The hotel floors appear to be newly refurbished but they couldn't do much about the low ceiling clearance (esp. the bathroom) which harks back to previous eras. The rooms are compact; once again a remnant of earlier times but at least the ID and furnishings have been tastefully updated and very clean (compliments to the housekeepers). My room had a wonderfully pristine view of the Pearl River with boats and ferries bobbing along (that is when its wasn't pouring buckets or foggy/smoggy?) Each floor came with an attendant to help you "navigate" to your room and they were always quite cordial, sweet and smiling.

The TV was once again low on foreign content. WIFI was non-existent but internet was, thankfully with all the connecting cables. Don't have high expectation of the toiletries but at least they came sealed for hygiene. A more premium collection sealed in a canister was available for an additional RMB38 - how thoughtful.

Breakfast on the top floor cafe quickly filled up so we were politely ushered to the 11th for ours. Selection was definitely geared for the typical Chinese businessman and then some - selection was pretty lack lustre and unimaginative (probably better on the penthouse). The lady maitre'd on duty was nice enough to allow me to start my meal even though I had gotten my room number momentarily confused.

There are plenty of restaurants and entertainment outlets around the hotel all geared to cater to business men with corporate accounts. If you are here for the Canton Fair (free shuttle apparently available) you could stay here but try someplace else if you are here on holiday.

The hotel is very central to the town, train and eating places. The customer service was excellent . The beds were comfortable and rooms clean. It was easily accessible from the airport with a direct bus. Wifi was not available in the rooms but available in the bar area in the lobby.

Room Tip: We had a room on the 23rd floor which gave a brilliant view of the Pearl River.

On an adventure trip with family n friend stayed on 35th floor. Got a cramped clean corner suite, breakfast included with fantastic pearl river view, however, very inconveniencing because the bathroom was along the corridor:) so one has to pass the lounge from the bedroom to go to the bathroom. It can be very cold especially during winter since they do not provide heating, temperatures are fixed so carry some warm nightwear during the cold season. Otherwise a well located hotel especially for shopping along Beijing street approx. 20 mins walk, variety of night entertainment spots and a pretty expensive seafood restaurant by the pearl river.

Room Tip: "Higher floors are quieter"

Stayed in the business suite on the higher floors. Its a big room with a connected living room. Rooms are clean but furnishing is starting to look old. For some reason, the door for the shower room could not be closed properly and the water floods the entire bathroom whenever I have a shower. This must be a design issue as I had stayed in this hotel several times and the same flooding occurs in different rooms.

There's are 2 nice Chinese restaurants on the lower levels. The restaurant on level 2 is cheaper but is always crowded. The restaurant on level 3 is more expensive (which may be a reason why its less crowded) and the food tastes really good.
