This hostel is the best hostel in xi'an. It is not far away from the metro station. Muslim quarter is not that far so you can walk to there if you want. The room was very clean and wifi was strong throughout the building. The hostel has a big common area both at the 1st floor and the rooftop. There are many activities (free) for the guests, such as making dumplings. There is a bar/restaurant service for the guests (surcharge). Also I booked terracota warriors tour (RMB 248) via the hostel and it was so great! They also arranged a early morning taxi to the airport (RMB200 or more..I cannot remember )for me.

The hostel had a really lovely atmosphere - it is easy to make friends and the staff are very friendly and helpful. However there are some issues. All the bathrooms are ensuite so when your bathroom is occupied there is nowhere else in the hostel to go. Also toilet roll isn't stocked in the bathrooms so we often had to keep going to the reception to get more. Also although the hostel clearly takes good care of their resident cats. In the common area they kept a small bird in a tiny cage, the bird was obviously very distressed as it would smash itself against the side of the cage and it was never let out. I understand it is quite common in china to keep birds in this way but it was so upsetting to see and they should set an example to others. Also the goldfish that were kept in the reception didn't have enough water in their bath and they were struggling for oxygen.

Spent three nights at Han Tang Inn while visiting Xi'an and had a memorable stay. Affordable price for the rooms (that were slightly smaller than I am used to seeing), lively bar and great food. Beware though - there's another establishment called Han Tang House that is down the street and there is no distinction online while booking so unfortunately my friends and I got placed in two different hostels! Not a big problem but a slight inconvenience logistically

I stayed at the Han Tang Inn but also visited the Han Tang House on the same ssreet for a drink in their bar and even learned how to play mahjong! They're centrally located, 5 minutes from the Bell Tower and nearest metro station. Both have a large social/bar area where people can relax with cheap drinks and VERY good, inexpensive food from the menu, with both Chinese and Western options available. Breakfast at Han Tang Inn is very good for 30RMB (small buffet, omelettes cooked fresh for you with a choice of fillings) and the rooms are spotless with comfy beds. I booked at tour to see the terracotta warriors with the hostel and that was great as well. Finally, Han Tang Inn has a roof garden, which is a fantastic place to relax on large sofas and play table tennis, and a pool table downstairs. I had an excellent stay all round!

We had a double room that was basic, clean, comfortable & air conditioned. The plant-filled roof-top terrace was really well appointed and comfortable. The ground floor bar/ breakfast area/ living room was cosy and clean. We stayed two nights and would happily stay longer. I normally stay in business hotels but wanted to experience some culture, this was a really good place to start.

Room Tip: Comfortable but basic, this is a hostel!
