The good: located within the old city walls; close to the old station; close to underground station; close to major shopping malls and street; professional staff; clean rooms

The bad: many clients have no concern for others, smoke in the rooms, in the halls, in the elevators.

We stayed here for 3 nights, March 22-25. Lovely huge hotel a few steps from the main railway station and the Wulukou metro station. Bus stop for bus 877 to Terracotta warriors is right near the train station.

We arrived at the high speed railway station Xian North and took a taxi from the official rank. For our day trip to Luoyang Longmen grottos, white horse temple, we asked the Bell desk to help with a taxi to the railway station Xian North. Saved time and was very reasonable. The bell desk got us a taxi to the airport also the next day for our flight to Guilin, just less than 120 CNY. Both times, taxi was dropping some one at the hotel. Airport shuttle is also available nearby, if one is so inclined

Room is spacious, comfy, no special Chinese décor touches. But the lobby is lovely with a koi pond, craft pieces, paintings etc,

Staff speak fluent English and are very prompt with help. Our AC broke down on the last day, we could not open the windows. Help arrived in seconds, when they could not open the window fully, another guy arrived within a minute and the window was opened well.

Many stores nearby for us vegetarians.

Excellent experience overall.

I Booked online a queen size room for a Quite reasonable price (After 2 Weeks of travelling through china and before entering Tibet we wanted to relax a Little Bit and extended the Budget). When we arrived we got the Queen size suite and it was crazily Hot in there (27 degrees). We waited for the night and switched on the AC, nothing happened. We slept in 27 degrees (end of March) and the next Morning we told the staff that there Is a Problem with the AC. They laughed (??) and said „i know“ (??). They do some programming from winter to summer Time. AC Is off for 4 weeks (????). Ok, we got a new room, a „normal“ room without AC Bit the other side, 23 degrees. I can live with that, But for that Price i would have got a better room in another hotel around!

Stayed here two nights.

- booked a non smoking room, was put into a smoking room and it really smelled of cigarettes and i asked to change, luckily they moved me but they should have checked the booking in the first instance.
- half the light switches did not work e.g. the main entrance switch did not turn on the light, as a result i had no lighting by the mirror. I had to use the lighting from the bathroom.
- the main room light is a white light so not nice on the eyes.
- the phone lines in my room were disconnected... i had to use the phone at the lift to call housekeeping or engineer (see below)
- temperature control - it was 30 degrees in my room when i woke up and when the engineer was sent over they said no air conditioning. She couldnt explain further because she couldnt speak english. When is 28° heat outside, you should expect air conditioning in your room.
- telephone buttons were all missing and no directory so dont know who to call. See picture.
- breakfast - all the cereals were stale, maybe the locals dont eat it so much so it is never refilled? The staff looked unwilling to help when i showed them the cold milk was empty, the staff just pointed me to another dispenser. Again not in english.
- the hotel caters for chinese people only, the staff do not speak english and if you are asking something you are just waved off esp in breakfast, as i came to give my room number she just mumbled something and waved her hand... i assumed that meant go inside?
- the bedroom doors are stiff and sometimes they just do not open, i had to try several times with a lot of force to open the door.
- the bathroom door did not shut. The door was too big for the frame and just got stuck.
- the bed was rock hard, as if sleeping on a wooden floor!
- the lobby looked really nice you enter but it has a central sofas / seating area where you can imagine a lot of people can sit at night - but they did not turn the lights on that area, the entire time i stayed at the  hotel.
- the batroom shower was terrible ... it just came out as one thick lump stream of water instead of as a shower sprinkles.
- they provided two showercaps, both broken as i went to put them on.

You can imagine that once upon a time this hotel was grand, the first impressions of the outside, lobby and rooms look really nice - that is before you start to encounter all the problems. They just have not maintained it and unfortunately it is now run down.

I chose the hotel because it was a good price for this size / star hotel but next time id rather pay more.

It does have some good sides:

It is really easy to get too, you can catch the airport shuttle bus to the xi'an main railway station, it actually stops at longhai hotel (near the railway), from there turn left and walk 5 mins down the road you will see the hotel. In fact you go past the hotel on the way to longhai so you should spot what your trying to heard towards.

It is easy to get to the terracotta museum, turn right outside the hotel and go through the city wall arches. Turn right again, and look for the bus "5 (306)". It costs 7 CNY and takes about 1 hour, it is the final stop. In order to come back, get on the same number bus at the same place it dropped you. Again it is 7 CNY and it will be the last stop.

Stayed here with a group for two nights prior to March 15th. This date was important because the northern cities are not allowed to use air conditioning until that date, so it was very hot in the rooms we were in. Plan your trip accordingly. The hotel itself is normal for a decent hotel, nothing spectacular. The location is very good as you are inside the city walls, so there are plenty of places to eat and see around this hotel.

Room Tip: There are two non-smoking floors. Ask for these. They may still smell like smoke.
