the hotel location is great. close to Kyoto station and plenty of places to eat. while behind it, is a quiet neighborhood. i like the fact that i can open up the window to let in some fresh air. some hotels don't let you do that, so the room is gets stuffy. especially during the winter and the heater is on. i like that they're environmentally friendly. my only issue was that the vent fan in the bathroom never turned off. maybe if they set it so that when the light turns on, the fan will turn on. and when the lights are turned off, the fan turns off. luckily, we were exhausted every day and slept soundly. but if you're a light sleeper, you can hear the fan.

Great hotel, brilliant service, always willing to help. Small rooms (but this was expected). Great breakfast selection including lots of Japanese food as well as continental selections. Occasionally difficult to get breakfast due to number of people queuing (on my final day I went at 7:30am instead of 6:30am as I normally do and I was unable to eat due to the queue and my outbound travel.) Otherwise, a great hotel and would certainly stay again if I am in Kyoto again soon.

Stayed for 3 nights at Ibis Kyoto as a base and used our JR pass to travel around, It was really good that the hotel was so close to the station as it meant ease of early train access and also carrying your bag was a breeze. The staff were very hospitable and helpful, and the complementary basic breakfast was a bonus catering for asian and european clients. Would highly recommend if you wish to be close to Kyoto station and am happy with european bedding options. Rooms are reasonable size for Japan though bathroom is still quite small. Glazing on the windows means no train noises.

This lovely hotel is directly opposite the west exit of the enormous Kyoto train station. It is well appointed and comfortable making full use of limited space. It also had two English language TV channels (a first in my 2 weeks in Japan). Breakfast is okay, but often there are queues, first to get an elevator, then for seating. But apart from those slight delays, it is otherwise excellent, comfortable and allows me one direct train back to Kansai Airport, important when you have luggage! Free wifi is also very good.
