Beautiful stylish hotel south of the Kyoto station. Nicely decorated thoughtful rooms with Japanese style bedding on the floor. A small gallery on the first floor, nice quiet communal spots for work or reading. A ride to downtown is about 10 min by metro, and the Kyoto station is a 13 min walk. The hotel also offers bikes for rent at Y1300.

Breakfast turned out to be the best I had in any of hotels of Japan! You can purchase it for Y1000 at the reception on the days you want (better value than what Expedia offered me for included breakfast). The variety was amazing - 3 rotating sandwiches to pick from, full salad and muesli bar, coffee, juices, a few smaller snacks.

Overall you see that management/owners thought through all small details and made this such an enjoyable place to stay. Loved it and hope to be back one day!

The hotel has a lot of modern art.
The rooms were spacious and we were happy for that after staying at hotel rooms of less than 15 sq.mtrs.
Separate toilet and bathroom facilities too.
Service and food is very good too.

Room tip: Best room has 2 of the best art pieces by Teppei Kaneuji.

A chic and modern hotel in the Kyoto! Great place to stay if you are in Kyoto, in general from experience usually good affordable accommodation are located one station/stop away from kyoto central station and this one is near to the Kujo station exit number 4 (conveniently also the exit with the lift access).

The room was clean and adequate although as per any hotels in Japan, size is always a tad smaller but as long as you do not need to keep more than 2 luggage wide open on the floor all the time you should be fine. The bathroom comes with a bathtub which also serves as your standing shower, the bathtub could only really fit in anyone under the height of 160 comfortably.

There is a bar which operates on certain days of the week from evenings till 12 and I would recommend a drink there if you are back after a long day out and just idle away at the bar in peace.

Breakfast is a little hit and miss, after reading other reviews I decided to try the breakfast for the last day morning and they were serving 3 main items form the bakery (Croissant,Danish pastry and I think a sandwich or something) together with potatao soup, free flow of yoghurt with various toppings, salad, juice, coffee/tea and pretty much that was it. I was rather hopping to see some forms of eggs as an option which i think would be good to have in the morning as breakfast.

Overall I would still recommend this place if you are looking for a place to say in Kyoto!

Stayed for three nights. It is located in the vincinity of Kyoto train station. The room was rather small but cozy. Staff was very nice and helpful. The breakfast was quite extensive and very tasty. Furthermore, the bar had a great (Japanese) whisky and beer collection.

I love how the boutique hotel tries to be different from the usual chain hotels in Japan. The location might not be as central as those around Kyoto station, but it is only 1 train stop away and the neighbourhood is quiet and safe. The staff speaks moderate to good English and is extremely helpful. The room which I stayed in (twin room) was surprisingly large by Japanese standards and very comfortable. There's also a laundry room at the lobby for our use, without the need to put in any detergent. Although breakfast options nearby the hotel might not be as many, you can easily take a train to Kyoto station where there's ample choices. All in all, I would recommend this hotel for couples and families to stay in at Kyoto.
