From the proactive outreach offering help with travel assistance and dinner reservations to the beautiful rooms (and generous World of Hyatt upgrade), this was a Park Hyatt-level, five-star experience.

The staff, in particular, Jen from the concierge desk, responded to every email (including several sent after hours) and was a warm professional. The concierge team also arranged a private tour guide on two hours' notice and dispatched someone to fetch train tickets for us overnight, ensuring we wouldn't be delayed due to the impending typhoon (which turned out to be very anti-climatic).

The room was understated, quiet, and luxurious, a sanctuary after busy days of work. The walk-in shower with its traditional wooden tub was easily the nicest shower I've ever seen.

We took breakfast in the steak restaurant daily. They offered very good food and excellent service.

Dinner at the restaurant downstairs was the only slight blemish on an extraordinarily positive experience. As others have noted, the prices were high and the service was slow.

As a seasoned, if not jaded, business traveler, I have never felt so genuinely welcome in a hotel before and would go back in a heartbeat.

This is a very good hotel in Kyoto. However for a 5 star rooms are
Small and price was high. We went to ser the comparable hotels ( Four Seasons and Ritz Carlton) and they are much nicer and real 5 stars. Probably even more expensive.

Great location, rooms and service.
Hotels in Kyoto were very different to Tokyo. Important to note that the beds and facilities in general across the room (including basin) are all much lower then a standard hotel. As someone who is average height, I was very thankful there was a stool at the basin as I would have not been able to wash my face comfortably without it.
The hotel is well maintained and has a beautiful garden space. I would stay again should I have the opportunity to return to Kyoto.

We had a really wonderful stay at this hotel. The rooms are beautiful and have every convenience at hand for the traveler.
The staff in this hotel are really helpful and go out of their way to sort out restaurants and whatever you ask of them.
The breakfasts are amazing with a fabulous selection of fresh produce. It is in a very quiet area and over the road from the national museum which is also handy!

We had the pleasure to stay at the Hyatt during our visit to Kyoto. Our room was very nice and spacious, with a lovely Japanese flair. The location was a bit far away from the main train station. Other than that, everything lived up to our expectation. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
One tip: the "Japan lonely planet" book has a great 4 hour walking tour with all major sights, starting not far away from the hotel.

We staid 4 nights in August 2017 in this beautiful hotel. The rooms were immaculate and the bathroom - breathtaking ! I love the style (mix Japanese-Occidental). The restaurant Kouzan was delicious, with a great presentation of the food.

But the staff was the best. My brother hurt himself - he dislocated his shoulder one morning during his morning routine - the hotel provided us with a nice and very professional interpreter (Misaki Ashio was her name). She came with us to the hospital and helped us SO much to understand everything. She was kind and patient. We could not thank her enough. When we came back few hours later to the hotel, the manager offered us the phone call to France (to contact our insurance) AND the taxi fare to go to the train station.
Thumbs up to all the team, you helped us to go smoothly and efficiently through a painful experience.
I will definitely stay here again if I get the chance to go back to Japan and I advise all my friends to book a beautiful room here as well :)
