My wife and I stayed in the Hyatt Regency Kyoto for a single night in September 2006. This hotel is very new (May 2006) and is yet to feature in guide books etc.
This Hyatt is in a nice area of Kyoto close to important attractions. Cabs and buses are frequent and are the only way to travel to central Kyoto (at least 20 minutes walk to Kyoto JR). The lack of a train service direct access to Kyoto JR is a draw back of this hotel.
Inside, this hotel is amazing; décor is outstanding, very clean and brand new. The staff are also very helpful and attentive.
Our room is the biggest we have had in Japan with good facilities including a queen sized bed, large plasma TV with many English channels including free movies, excellent bathroom and radio controlled toilet???
We got a very good room rate probably aligned to this hotel being so new, I would expect rates to rise for a hotel of this quality. Food is very expensive; light breakfast £20.
