“Cheap but decent hotel with an impressive breakfast set :)”
Reviewed 12 December 2011

d' Garden hotel is a good choice for budget travellers. Although its is not centrally located, the impressive breakfast set and cozy ambience makes up for it.

Our family stayed in this hotel for two nights and we are satisfied with the service, we were attended to promptly when we arrived and breakfast was ready for us as early as 7am (service time starts at 7:30 am).

Some noteable points:

1) rooms are small, as well as the bathroom. good thing there's hot/cold shower and bidet
2) the hotel sells drinks at the lobby
3) it has two internet ready computers at the lobby that guests can use for free for 30 minutes
4) Hotel also has free wifi for their guests (fast service) though since my room is at the end corner, so getting a signal is quite difficult
5) Breakfast constants: tea, coffee, juice and bread;
other breafast fare: on our first day, there was pancit/noodles, mixed vegetables and assorted rice cakes; on our second day, there was sticky rice wrapped in leaves and ham and cheese croissants
6) the hotel is also a place where their local police peacefully hang-out, which for me gives a sense of added security so i do not mind their presence there
7) to get a taxi, you have to walk around two blocks from the hotel

Overall, i highly recommend this hotel for budget travellers in KL.

If you are a smoker, this is the place for you. Certain hours of the night, the reception is full of cigarette smoke. the hallway even on the 1st floor gets a smoking smell due to the opening of a stairway from the reception connected to the 1st floor.

Service staff are quick to attend to your needs. No need to bring hair dryer - you can borrow one from the reception. If you lost or forgot to bring your mobile charger, you could also borrow from the reception. Includes Shampoo. Bring your own toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, and hair conditioner.

Beds are good for the spine. Linens are changed on a daily basis. Bathrooms were carefully thought of. Good idea. Making sure every room has their own bathroom.

Some water from a shower has a smell - some kind of a chemical or was it too much chlorine?

Breakfast is free, usually consists of carbohydrate foods such as pancit, congee or noodles, breads with jam, or with hotdog or with ham, sticky rice. This is a retail business zoning area. fronting Hotel Maluri, Policemen mostly stays in this area, probably where most tourists are. Policemen also smokes. Some Diners does not care less if they blow their cigarette smoke at you while you are having your breakfast.

No traffic. Old Town White Coffee is just around the corner. Chinese, Malay food are also within distance. Bus stop / Teksi stand walkable distance. Supermarket near the Bus stop.

There are certain hours of the night where clients are able to smoke inside the aircon reception. This smell goes to the 1st floor hallway.

This hotel has two computers for guest use, wifi is availabe at the reception area. Wifi at some rooms are excellent, some no signal.

No swimming pool

Room Tip: For non-smoking, choose the room at the end of the hall - with windows.

Service at reception is adequate.
The room is pleasant enough but the bathroom needs a total re-design. Very small and no shower screen or curtain. It is possible to wet the carpet in the bedroom if you are not very careful.
Location is quite a long way from the city centre and KL attractions. Taxi drivers have trouble finding it.
Breakfast is included and the breakfast room is very pleasantly decorated and located.
Be early for breakfast (simple, basic Asian and Western food) or you will find fried eggs that were cooked two hours earlier.

We stayed at this hotel based on Trip Advisor recommendations and we weren't disappointed. The rooms were basic, but came with free wifi, free bottled water from fountains in the hallway and a hot Malay breakfast- all of the basic things a traveler needs!

The room was small and old. The ceiling of the toilet in the room we stayed was leaking. There was an unpleasant smell in the room probably due to the carpet which looked old. We were disappointed because the pictures of the rooms shown on the internet were attractive which was not the real case.
Breakfast consisted of bread, sandwiches, coffee and chocolate which would be fair enough for the price we paid. Although if we had known before the real condition of the rooms, we would not have booked here. One positive point in this hotel was the free drinking water (mineral) which was located in every floor.

The place did not look as good as it were from the picture but the friendliness of their staff somehow attracted me to stay on for few nights. There was some noise from the pub beside the hotel but it shows me on the culture of Malaysian hanging out at night drinking and singing their heart out. The room is small but sufficient for 2 persons to get a good rest. Location of the place is strategic based on the cost i was paying for cab to get to KL city. I was also served with decent breakfast but the moment i like most was sitting outside the hotel with a puff of cigarette.
