“Good hotel at good location”
Reviewed 6 March 2012

Hotel is located in the 'Golden Triangle'. If you have to be in KL or if you like shopping, this is the place to stay. The staff of this hotel is very attentive. Every morning you will get a newspaper. The standard room is quit small but efficiently designed. The shower is really great and the toilet is separate. Good and fast free internet. The breakfast is excellent. There are a few restaurants in this hotel and numerous outside. Swimming pool is nice. Area has comfortable chairs.

Stayed here for 4 nights. On arrival, it took a while to check-in, despite a lot of staff being on reception. Took about 10-15 minutes from giving our name to the receptionist to actually getting our key.
We arrived at our 'superior city view' room on the 19th floor to find it overlooked the opposite direction to the city. A fruit plate with apples and grapes was there to welcome us. Clearly the previous guests had not been so keen on the grapes as I found these on the floor shrivelled up demonstrating that the room doesn't get vacuumed very often. Another give away was all the bits on the carpet and the carpet was also quite grotty near the door.
In addition to the carpet being dirty, I pulled back the sheets to find dirty marks over the sheets. They looked like a combination of oil marks and like someone had walked over the sheets in dirty shoes.

You might be wondering why I have given the hotel 4 stars. Other than these issues we had no problems. The room was a decent size if not huge. We called housekeeping and asked for the sheets to be changed which they did within 30 minutes.
The staff around the hotel were very friendly, inparticular in the breakfast room.
The breakfast was excellent.
A vast range of food to cater for all nationalities (although no pork products served and therefore bacon and sausages were either beef or chicken).
We used the pool and the gym and both were very clean.
They do provide free wi-fi. Point to note here is that when you connect you have to get a confirmation code from reception. This will then connect you and tell you about internet charges. We checked with reception and they confirmed that it was free and to just agree to the charges. When we checked out no charges were applied. I think potentially they have recently switched to offering free w-fi but their system hasn't been updated to reflect this so it still informs you of rates.

The hotel is in a good location. A 2 minute walk to Bukit Bintang monorail station. Approximately 30 minute walk to the Petronas Towers or to the KL Tower. Several shopping centres are within a 5 minute walk.

We ate on Jalan Alor which is a street of cafe's at night. Fabulous food for about 8RM per basic dish (e.g. chicken rice or beef noodles). 15 RM for a large bottle of beer. In comparison the hotel charge about 40 - 50 RM for a meal and 40RM for a large beer!
As another alternative, there is a bar just outside Bukit Bintang station on the same side of the street as the hotel that we ate at and drank at for about the same price as on Jalan Alor.

All things considered this was a good hotel just let down by the room not being as clean as it could/should have been for a hotel of this rating.

If you like shopping, this is a great location, in easy walking distance of several malls of various types:
Sungei Wang Plaxa, Bukit Bintang Plaza (low end)
Berjaya Times Square and Lot 10 (mid range)
Pavilion Kuala Lumpur (luxury)
Imbi Plaza (?)
I'm not a big shopper, but even I spent a day wandering around in the malls. (Tip: If you're a Western-sized person, don't expect to find much clothing.)

The monorail station is very close and takes you to within walking distance of the biggest tourist attractions (Petronas towers, KL Tower, etc.)

My room was quite worn, with marks on the walls and a street-facing window that would not close all the way, meaning the room was very loud 24/7.

But I'm not really picky. To me the main thing is the bed (which was rock-hard and very comfortable) and the shower (great!!). Breakfast staff was very welcoming. Loved the breakfast buffet, with all its international choices.

I got free wifi by joining their (free) bonus program, GHA Discovery. I was reluctant, but the Internet charges are otherwise outrageous.

I think this place is great value for the money. I booked and prepaid using Expedia and got a good price and everything went smoothly. Before moving to this hotel, I had stayed at Le Meridien, which I found pretentious (speaking from the perspective of a tourist).

The pool area was well stocked with towels, and the pool water was clean and refreshing. Lounge chairs were very nice, and I never saw more than six people at one time in the pool area -- perhaps because it's quite loud, with traffic noise just six floors below. (Malaysians seem to blare their horns at the slightest provocation....) Drinks were outrageously priced, but I guess that's to be expected.

They played pop music from the early 80's all over the hotel. I actually really enjoyed that! Some of those songs I haven't heard in many years.

Room Tip: Ask for a room NOT facing the main roads.

Pleasant hotel. We stayed for six nights and were happy to be going.
Our criticism would be the traffic noise (well it is on a major road) and again (different hotel review) the bed mattress was too hard.
The restaurant was very good for all the meals we had there. In room wifi was also very good.
Along with the pleasant staff this made our stay comfortable.
If you are into shopping, location good. Also the monorail is out the front.
Our rating of average was because of the road noise and hard mattress, neither were helpful when trying to rest/sleep.

We stayed here on 30 Dec 2011 - 1 Jan 2012. Previously we were at the Orchid Club. This time we stayed at Deluxe Room.

Bed: This is the first thing that I'm going to mention because it's very huge. Bigger than a King Size bed that can fit 3 average size adults comfortably. Probably about the size of a queen size bed + a single bed.

View: We had the best view of the fireworks on New Year's eve from Sungei Wang. The full view of the firework is right outside the window.

Service: Still as good. See my previous post. http://www.tripadvisor.com.sg/ShowUserReviews-g298570-d487622-r115943642-PARKROYAL_Kuala_Lumpur-Kuala_Lumpur_Wilayah_Persekutuan.html

Room: Very spacious. That can put another single bed with reading chair and writing desk. The reading armchair is very comfortable.

Lift: The lifts take a long time to reach our level. If you stay on the lower floors, you might not be able to take the lift because it's so packed with people from the upper floors.

Location: See my previous post on ParkRoyal KL.

Compared to most hotels in Asia, including 2 star in Chaing Mai, the Parkroyal is out of line charging $6USD per hour and $20 per day for internet connectivity

A lovely place to stay after a long flight. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was very clean. Swimming pool was a nice place to cool down after a day in the humid city! Amazing location!!!
