I am staying at this hotel with a group of colleagues travelling for an event at the convention centre, which is just right next door.

In terms of location, this hotel is quite good. Covered walkway through the convention centre and underground tunnel to Suria KLCC, which also connects with the LRT KLCC Station. I am staying in the city-view room but I can see the twin towers the moment I step outside the hotel.

The service within this hotel is what got me. Last year, we had trouble with documents and shipments sent to be kept at this hotel, and somehow the hotel managed to lose that (eventually we figured out that they have it sent back to the courier to be sent away after they've signed for it!). This year, the shipment stayed within the hotel with much mix-up, thankfully, but they manage to do something else wrong.

First, when I checked in, they had my dates wrong - they had me leaving a day earlier even though I wrote very clearly on my reservation form (we did group booking) on when and which flight I am leaving with.

And what really upset me was that, even though our group book through the same booking form, we are getting drastically different treatments. Some of our group members are getting newspaper delivered to the door, fruits in their room, and breakfast with the package, and some of us are getting nothing, even though we are paying for the same deal. Worse yet, when we try to get our breakfast back (I don't really care for the newspaper and the fruits), and bringing our confirmation to them, they refuse, saying that we need to have a specific code from reservation, which reservation never manages to produce.

The hotel claims to offer wifi access throughout now, and they do - but having wifi (even full reception with all the bars filled) does not guarantee that you will get reception within the room. For example, in my room, the only way I can have a decent skype conversation with my friend is if I am lying on the bathroom floor by the tub. If I wanted to sit comfortably on the couch they have in the room? Sorry, no connection.

And I have to agree with another reviewer above - the music is extremely loud from the hallway!

For the price they are charging, I would much rather stay at Hilton or Novotel or Crowne Plaza, and that's likely what I will do the next time.

Thank you to the writer for posting this review.

We are familiar with this situation and confirm that the booking made by the company was one day short of the guests expectation. At registration our colleague extended the departure date.

Reading between the lines I can also confirm that all guests in this group booking had a breakfast inclusive rate however this would not be refundable if not consumed. There is no breakfast process that requires a guest to present confirmation of pre-purchase. We simply record the guest room number and post appropriately.

At registration guests have the option of selecting a local and international newspaper perhaps this option was missed when completing the registration documents at check-in.

Wifi and broadband internet is absolutely free at Traders Hotel. We have run a diagnostic check on this guestroom and cannot identify any fault in the wifi signal strength and data speed. There have been issues with the latest iPad and iPhone devices of which our IT team are more than happy to assist our guests with solutions.

We are investigating the comments relating to the courier transactions from the previous stay. I can add that our Concierge will not accept a package or documents for a guest who is not in house for obvious reasons. However we will accept for forward booking when we have prior knowledge. There were no issues with the courier service during this stay.

We are humble hoteliers and request of any guest that if you are facing a challenge let us know so that we can correct the problem while still in the hotel. I do hope that we have an opportunity to recover the perceptions the guest has of our colleagues and the hotel.

Have stayed at a few hotels in KL and the Traders cannot be beaten.
The staff are the most effiecent I have come across, always welcoming you back when you come back into the building asking how was your day, check in and out was very quick.
The breakfast selection is excellent along with the business rooms to use for computer access.
Have stayed on the club floor twice now and the afternoon drinks are very welcome, and the view from the club rooms is fantastic.
Also being close to KLCC for shopping is another bonus and the Pavillion is only a 5 minute walk away.
The only downside to the Traders is the pool especially when you can see how nice the Mandarin's is from the Traders Club room, I don't know what the architect was thinking when he thought sticking a pool inside with bar was a good idea.

Room Tip: Club floor rooms are a must.

Staying at Traders Hotel just made us love whole KL! The moment you entered the hotel, we were always greeted by staffs. They were always there with friendly smiles. The reception was located in 5th floor, so check-in/check-out were smooth as there were no other guests who need trip advice from the staff. (we asked lots of questions to the staff on the 5th Floor, and they were very knowledgable and friendly!)
Our room faced the twin tower. The best view you can ever have in whole KL! Of course, room was clean and nice, no complains at all. The maid left us candy every day on the towel. Nice little treat :)
Suria KLCC was good place for us to have breakfast, lunch and dinner, shopping as well. It took us less than5 min walk from hotel, along pretty park with little water fall. There is a shuttle from the hotel, but we walked most of the time. We walked through the convention centre, which is just next to the hotel when it was too hot.
We were recommended to take a cab to go to Pavilion, the fist shopping mall on BukitBintang. But it takes only about10-15 min if you walk where cab drove. Take cab to learn how to get there for the first time trip. We found the alternative when it is too hot! There is a bridge with aircon that connect Pavilion to the convention centre. Follow the sign in the Pavilion "Bridge to KLCC", it will take 15-20min.
Thanks Traders Hotel, we will come back!

Pros
- the location of the hotel is not bad
- check-in is nice, concierge is helpful

Cons
- the music on the corridore is so loud, I could hear it in my room that was very annoying
- my room was on the opposite side from the twin towers - looking at a particularly ugly residential building: they make you pay for a view on the towers
- the swimming pool in the sky lounge closes at 7PM and it's not mentioned anywhere, you can't get a decent evening workout
- the hotel is overcrowded, it's used by tourist groups as a stopover, you have loud and rude people all over the place who clearly do not stay in 5star hotels other times
- restaurant is overcrowded, food runs out quickly
- difficult to catch a cab
- rooms are bit old - you can see scratches all over the furniture etc.

Thank you to the writer for posting this review and for taking the time to acknowledge the efforts of our concierge. It is obviously disappointing that we did not meet with his or her expectations and can assure readers that we do everything possible to delight our guests each and every time. Of course if any guest is having challenges let us know and we can attempt to do something about it.

The music selection we use in the public areas and corridors is somewhat contemporary relative to most hotels and perhaps not to the liking of the writer. We start the day with softer jazz and move towards a selection of contemporary pop and then on to evening chill genre. The volume is well controlled and I would have to say I do receive a significant number of complimentary comments about the music choice.

Our health club on level 26 overlooking the KLCC park is open 24 hours a day for those looking for a nocturnal work out. The pool opens a 6am and closes at 7pm and is well communicated.

Like all hotels we have our lead category accommodation in our case the city view rooms and the premium inventory which for us overlooks the Kuala Lumpur City Centre and the Petronas Twin Towers. Absolutely there is a price increment and given the outstanding value the MYR presents it’s highly worth the investment.

Transportation at the hotel is co-ordinated by the concierge. We have a fleet of limousines our own dedicated taxi concession and a plethora of local taxis at our disposal. Certainly during peak periods and inclement weather there can be a slight delay in taxi distribution but in my own opinion KL is much better than other capital cities for taxi availability.

Where do I start? The staff were helpful and courteous, the rooms were comfortable and if you happen to stay in a room with a view of the Petronus Twin Towers, it is icing on the cake. We had our breakfast daily in the Gobo Upstairs Grille and they put out quite a spread, both Western and South East Asian delights. In the afternoon, afternoon tea was served in the lounge on the 32nd floor. We were out at Suria KLCC everyday shopping and only managed to enjoy the afternoon tea once. It was very relaxing having fruits, cakes and coffe/tea whilst enjoying the view of the skyscrapers of KL.
We has free wifi during our 4-day stay there and my daughter who couldn't access the internet on her mobile phone, used the computer in the business center.
Suria KLCC(mall) is a walking distance from the hotel. We had a choice taking the hotel shuttle, a golf cart or walk through a promenade linked to the mall.
We had a very lovely time staying in this hotel and I would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys a bit of luxury and pampering.

The customer service its excellent. Rooms are beautiful, spacious and clean. Huge and tasty breakfast served in the room punctually as a great advantage. Views from the room are stunning right into KL Towers, additionally chilling at the Sky Bar was great experience, they also serve beautiful food, drinks and deserts. Walk to KL Towers its very short, but Hotel offers a mini transport every 5 minutes. Great hotel from what we seen along with Mandarin these are two best hotels to go for, but I would def come back to Traders without thinking twice as its checked and highly approved by own wonderful experience.

We found this hotel to be excellent, within walking ditance of the Petronas Towers and all the shopping on the doorstep. The staff were always courteous and very knowlegeable whenever we asked questions. We stayed in an Executive Suite which was spacious and well appointed, with a lovely marble bathroom. The view from the top floors is amazing and well worth the trip in the lifts. Breakfast is a feast to suit all tastes, the only problem we found was if you arrive for breakfast at about 10.00 you may have to wait a few minutes for a table. Otherwise a very comfortable stay and would love to return to this hotel.

Room Tip: Suites are worth the extra and cheaper on the South side.
