Stayed over the 2011 Holidays.
The hotel is nice, clean and the location was good as there is a Mall nearby.
This was our first time in Manila. We wanted a luxury hotel. Its not a 5 star as they say but a good 4 star with some nice touch. My only 2 complaints are 1. Our flight arrived earlier than expected but still early in morning. Pan Pacific hotel reservation had confirmed days inadvance that we could acces our room free of charge, the chech-in insisted on charging us 90usd to access the room at 9:30 am. Even if the room was ready, the other alternative was to wait 2 ours in the restaurant or pool area to avoid the charge. After a 12+hours red eye flight, you want your
room. The room was relatively small but comfortable. The restaurant had an amazing 360 degree
view. Cocktails and food was good. The breakfast buffet was endless and tasty.
The hotel was attached to a complex with restaurants. The Chieese and Japaneese were good. The best was the Sushi counter on the first floor. The coffee shop made good lattees. The massage parlor, altough it seemed rundown had very good therapist. The foot massage was great after a day of walking in the city. The Karaoke bar looked like a front for a Bordelo, so we did a lap and didn't feel like we could commit to a spot in the bar so we left.
Second complaint, although the Concierges were very attentive, helpful and all, it was a bit exhasperating when each time we asked about a market or bargain malls that they would stair, sigh and not recommend for us to venture there. It became annoying as we have traveled to Asia many times before and are comfortable in large urban cities. That said, we abided by the advice, put safety first but were disapointed because Manila, from what we saw, looks more like a European or even Latin American city than an Asian Metropolis. Manila is not the place to shop, Mall of Asia is really for locals or tourists with kids. Greenhills mall was fun, like a giant flea
market filled with gadgets.
