Manila Hotel is an historic old hotel (built in 1912) and the Philippines first 5-start hotel. Now it is best known for it’s top floor suite - the Mac Arthur Suite - “home” of General Douglas Mac Arthur (used as his command post during WWI while he was in Manila). It’s currently about $3,000 per night - an exorbitant sum in the Philippines. Locals refer to it as a “religious suite” - visitors exclaim “Oh My God” when they see this gorgeous suite and “Jesus Christ” when the see the bill.
Definitely a lovely place to visit if for nothing more than its history, but it is also one of Manila's finest options.More
