“Most relaxing stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 October 2011

Had originally booked the Amanruya but they weren't ready, so came here instead.   Had a super relaxing stay at Casa Dell'arte, was here for four wonderful days. Except for the Voyage hotel down the bay with hundreds of sunbeds packed together like sardines, the rest of Torba, and especially the Eastern end closer by the ruins of a monastery where Casa dell'arte is situated, is peaceful and laidback.

A short 30 min ride from the Bodrum airport, I arrived in Torba, was upgraded to the scorpio suite (in the Residence) a spacious two story apartment with a gigantic bed, shared balcony, proper living room, and etc.  I had plenty of space to practice my yoga, whether upstairs or downstairs.  It was also incredibly quiet being end of the season, I only saw two other couples at the hotel.

I had two lunches at the restaurant next door called Gonca Balik, excellent starters, fish and coma inducing wine right on the jetty over the clear water where you could entertain yourself by feeding bread to the schools of fish.

The hotel's restaurant also good, more upscale (ie they debone your fish) and managed by a lovely food and beverages manager that looked like a mermaid from the sea.    The seafood was consistently good (their grilled octopus with garlic oil was excellent),  I didn't enjoy the grilled chicken (dry and tasteless) but overall these two restaurants were better vs the places I tried during my daytrip to historic Ephesus and Bodrum.  Also breakfast was very good.

Speaking of Bodrum, if Torba, and staring at the unspoilt emerald waters becomes too sedative, Bodrum with its mega cruiseships is only a 15 min bus/minivan ride away with the bus stop in front of the hotel. Just remember to take no. 1 bus back to Torba (I took no. 2 by mistake).

I loved the artwork around the hotel/ private residence, even one of the aircons in the room was also covered up by a frame! Also liked how the housekeeping staff were generous with the l'occitane toiletries, I hate it when hotels give you one pathetic little bottle of shampoo a day.

If I have to be picky, would just say that
1) Mosquitoes were a minor issue, with one in my room the first night and I also got bitten through the dinners, but there were no flies.
2) no flowers would be better vs the fake flower decorations in the room
3) friendly but sleepy service: this is where I've been spoilt in Asia, ie am used to lounging with a constant refill of water, free fruit snacks etc
4) water is perfectly clean but not much of a "beach" in this part of the world. Was perfectly happy with the overwater sundecks though.

... in sum, loved it.

We stayed at this beautiful small hotel outside of Bodrum. We thought it was very special to stay in what was a private home.
The service was excellent and the accommodation lovely.

First of all, although we'd an e-mail confirming that they'd pick us up at the airport (price 100 Euro), nobody was waiting for us there. After nearly half an hour waiting and looking for the transport , we decided to take a taxi. On our arrival at the hotel, when we complained, they said that it wasn't confirmed. Instead of giving us a welcome drink and showing us around, which is usual in hotels of this kind and price everywhere, they asked us to pay for the whole amount of our stay without even showing us the room. We asked to see the room first. Then, we paid, of course. It seemed as if they thought we wouldn't do it. Our room had a balcony, but the air-conditioning machine was next to it and the noise was terrible. Also no complimentary bottle in room or on the beach deck as it is usual in this type of hotels. We also had to find by ourselves where everything was, restaurant, pool, beach ,etc. After our fantstic experiences in other beach hotels of similar type in various countries, the comparison results were very bad. Above all, for the price you pay. The restaurant didn't meet our expectations either. The fist restaurant yes.

We stayed here last week with our 3 year old and it was one of the best holidays/hotels we have ever stayed at. We do tend to go to higher end places.hotels and this hotel matched the best we have stayed at around the world.

fantastic location, beautiful surroundings, really classy. food was top notch, nice pool and sunbathing deck (no sand Hurray!) - staff very friendly and took care of our toddler (for free) for a few hours each day.

Only negatives; pool bar closes at 7pm just when its nice to sit and have a pre diunner drink Ithat is due to change next year)/ no balcony in the rooms

Otherwise a really great find, a true gem and only 10 minutes (by minibus from front door) to the history and hustle of Bodrum if you want to go for shopping and sighseeing (you will rush back to Torba though!)

Also - check when Ramadan ends as week after is as best avoided then as it gets very crowded - September best month to go

I researched several places to stay in the bodrum area and in the end we stayed in torba at Casa dell arte. From the time we arrived we enjoyed our stay. Feyza helped out with so many restaurant reservations, shops to visit and anything else we needed. Sara shared information to help us get around bodrum. The kids enjoyed there stay as well and we were already talking about going back next summer. The view is great and it is an elegant but yet family friendly place to stay. There is a city shuttle bus that stops right in front of the hotel to take you into bodrum and other cities. If you stay here you'll feel like you're staying with family! Thanks to the staff at CDA. We were staying in a house in Torba and via trip advisor had heard this was a lovely hotel. At the far end of Torba beach this is a well situated hotel. We just popped in for a cocktail at their lovely beach bar which is built around a huge palm tree which gives perfect shade on a hot day. However when we arrived one of the helpful staff said there were spare cushions and loungers on the grass and would we like to use them. Nothing was too much trouble and we had a lovely afternoon lazing around the hotel. The MUST SEE is the wonderful unusual art thorughout this very contemporary hotel. Even the antique cars at the front of The Residence are lovingly cared for. I asked to be shown a room and we look at the Gemini suite. It was so unusual and beautifully appointed and a keen eye for detail. Lovely L'Occitaine toiletries. Object d'art all over the room. The next time we visit Torba we will be beg, borrowing or stealing to stay at this hotel. 2 minor points to mention - the music is very loud which may be offputting for some... but I am sure the hotel staff would appreciate that not all like loud music and turn it down. The other thing was that the main pool near the beach was cloudy. In fact my husband said I ought not to swim in it, you could not see the bottom.

The wooden decking (for guests only) is gorgeous, jutting out to sea with lots of recliners as well as 2 or 3 pod like cabanas. As in all of Torba the water is so clear, warm to swim in and great for snorkelling.
