“Absolutely gorgeous!”
Reviewed April 12, 2017 for a stay in April 2017

So glad that I didn't stay in a hotel. This house is beautiful, all of the acommadations surpass expectations. We was able to walk to downtown from here and there are several restaurants within a couple of blocks. Three of us stayed there and it was very spacious, had a nice backyard patio equiped with strung lights and a BBQ grill. If I ever come back to Austin this is definitely the first place I will check the availability of.

“Good location - you will get a good night's sleep”
Reviewed June 4, 2016 for a stay in May 2016

I was unsure if I had rented the same house from the pictures. We got caught in the bad rain during our travel into Austin and arrived later than we had anticipated. The gate was open which we weren't sure if the owners left it open for us or if someone had just left the house - it was dark and raining so you can imagine our hesitation. There are camera's outside the house which I guess is good?
The trees are overgrown, the pathway is unkempt and there are a few stray cats and lots of bugs (killed some crawling inside the house). I wasn't too pleased with the restroom (the window by the shower or the tub mat which looked really used) but the beds were really comfortable and being able to control the temperature in the bedrooms and living room was great. We really didn't use the kitchen but it seemed pretty well stocked if want to cook. Having a washer and dryer was nice and the welcoming touch was nice with beer and a snack basket in the fridge. Both bedrooms had TVs and there is a gigantic TV in the living room which we enjoyed.
You can't beat the location and it was nice to be able to park inside the gate. Upon booking I received a quick confirmation response with entry instructions/info and we are only waiting on our deposit to be refunded. Overall our stay was pleasant and cheaper than staying in a hotel but I think there are a few items the owners can do to maintain the house in better condition. There are rules posted throughout the house and also ask to put a load in the washer upon departure...I'm not quite sure how I feel about that, except that this is a first. Probably just an ATX thing...

Dear guest,
I’m glad you enjoyed our comfy beds, TVs, special treats, location and the many other amenities that our home offers. We do our very best to offer our guests a cozy stay that truly feels like home with all its warmth and loving care. I am disappointed that you didn’t have the experience that we aim for all our guests as confirmed by the many great reviews here and dozens more in other sites in which we list our home. Let me address a few of your items. As you said, it was raining and dark. The wind probably blew the gate open. The elements will throw leaves and sticks around, we cannot possibly come tidy up the outside in the middle of a storm. Yes, there are cats in our neighborhood, it is unreasonable to think that we could stop them from entering our yard. Bugs….this is spring in Austin, Texas, our home is only two blocks away from the lake, bugs will be in the grounds all over Austin especially by the lake, we just can’t fight nature. Our home has many beautiful trees, and fortunately they have been very happy with all the unusual rain we have gotten in Austin this year. They are indeed grown, full and beautiful. FYI, trees should never be pruned in the spring in order to avoid disease. You should not have been surprised at all about our check out procedure which includes starting a load of towels – this was explicitly listed in our contract that you accepted upon booking. Starting a load of laundry is a common practice among vacation rentals. Also in the same said contract were the rules posted throughout the house: NO SMOKING and no noise outside during certain hours as per City of Austin ordinance. We have to post these rules in all rooms as the others guests that didn’t go through the booking process might not have been made aware of them. Also the City of Austin demands the noise and assembly rules be posted in plain sight. Refundable damage deposit: we don’t see it or hold it, Trip Advisor does. According to the rules stated in their website, they will return it within 10 days of the check out date, we have no control over that. I feel our home is lovingly taken care of, but it is not a brand new construction as clearly shown in the pictures (such as the bathroom). It is clean, cozy, with lots of loving touches and character, and well priced. If you are looking for a cookie cutter and controlled environment, no fresh air or nature, a lot less space for the money, not a place to call your own, a hotel might be a better choice for you.

“SOOOOOO many plusses... AND a piano!!! We loved this home!!!”

Right from the security gate for parking and the convenient digital entrance for the front door, which allowed us entry without needing to set up a check-in meeting with Paola & Aditya,we were immediately pleased with this property. The pecan trees in the front yard and the wrought iron bench and 2 cushioned patio chairs gave us a very relaxed and
lush green first impression. And one step inside the big front entrance made us feel right-at-home!!!
All of the main rooms are large and airy...king-sized beds in both bedrooms. Lots of closet space ,chest of drawers, lovely linens, big TVs in BOTH bedrooms...now that's a RARE feature in a vaca-home.
The living room has such a large L-shaped sofa,it could easily sleep another guest. The TV is huge and the decorative touches are spot-on. The dining room, with a large table that seats six, and a fireplace, makes this home so much more than just another rental. And the kitchen is very well appointed...so many handy utensils ,cookware and small appliances, spices, condiments and the best-stocked fridge we've ever been treated to on our arrival.
And as an extra treat for this casual piano-playin' senior, we were pleased to see that Paola and Aditya kindly left a beautiful electric keyboard in the study. I made it a point to play a little each day and it will always stick in my mind as "The Piano House" in Austin, the music city of Texas.
Thank you,Paola, for sharing your love of music with your guests. It's a very generous thing to do and it just adds to our intention to spread the word to family & friends and increases our desire to return to this home the next time we return to Texas.
LOVED the backyard and the proximity to the Colorado River parks system, the stretch of unique shops and walkability along the SouthCongress Shopping district, and the campus area and shops in the Texas University area...and of course, the music vibes and history along famous Sixth Street.
We even found the small bit of ThreadGills Restaurant that remains after the fire years ago and stood in the spot where Janis Joplin started her musical adventure. It was a chilling moment to us to feel the history of that legend after growing up with her music all through our younger years. That was a highlight !!!
Now you know why we said "SOOOOOOOOO many plusses" in the Review Title. Only minus was that we only stayed for 3 nights...next time, much longer!!! This vacation home is a VERY good VALUE and 2 couples or a small family would be very happy renting it we're sure!!!

“Perfect Home Away from Home”

Town Lake Home was perfectly situated: walking distance to East Austin hotspots and Rainey Street, while also tucked away in a quiet residential neighborhood. Paola communicated frequently prior to our arrival, and it was a breath of fresh air walking into the house. The entire property is fully stocked, and would meet the needs of any traveler- whatever your interests: cooking, reading, music, or resting. This was a great find, and we hope to book again on our next trip to ATX.

“Cozy, clean and welcoming!”
Reviewed February 26, 2014 for a stay in February 2014

This home was perfect for our stay in Austin. It was so close to downtown and the airport. The gated parking was great. We were able to entertain some family in the evenings. The beds and furniture are very comfortable. It is just the perfect amount of room for 3 or 4 people. We loved drinking wine in the evenings in the front and back yard. It was also nice that the owners provided some snacks and beer upon arrival. We had a great stay and if we return to Austin we'll be renting this property again for sure!

Liked best: King size beds, the living room and wifi.
Liked least: The neighborhood was quiet, but it is getting fixed up. There was some construction going on in the area, but it wasn't loud. I can't wait to see the improvements.
