Owner description: Alta turns 70 next winter. Alta's place in the ski world is unique, its history storied. Alta's culture blends this past with the future as it presents, along with Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort, America's first lift-served interconnect. Alta and pure, unspoiled skiing are synonymous. Alta's wide variety of terrain, breathtaking alpine scenery and superb snow conditions combine to create a unique setting. Alta continues to offer a ski-only experience.

“Alta is for skiers.”

You won't get run over by any snow boarders at Alta. There is plenty of area to ski at any level at Alta. I learned to ski here and I keep going back. It's one of the more affordable resorts and it's got a good variety.

“Great skiers mountain”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 March 2012

This skier only mountain is my favorite in Utah. Great runs all over for varying levels. Easy to get to from downtown and Sandy via UTA public transport. Some great food and excellent coffee at Alta Java. This is a ski only resort - no snowboards. The better ski rental is at Albion base or powerhouse at Wildcat.
Love Alta!

Enjoyed Alta in April 2011 with a Snowbird-Alta dual lift pass and had a fanastic time. Challenging mountain with beautiful scenery.

“Alta, just for Skiers, Quite decent for beginners.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 March 2012

Alta is a pretty great place for beginning skiers especially ones light on cash.
They have a Beginner Area Day Pass (3 lifts Albion, Sunnyside & Cecret) $38 for a reloadable card and then each time after that $33 They even have a Late Afternoon Pass thats good from 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm New reloadable card $30 after that $25.

They also have a program that is very cheap for skiing after 3pm until Close. They give you three lifts to chose from. Albion, Sunnyside, and Cecret (Cecret closes at 3:30, so only one maybe two runs on this one). These are all green and blue runs, and I must say going to different resorts when I was learning, Altas Green Runs are quite advanced in comparason to others. Price is $10 for a reloadable ticket, then $5 each reload after that. Or you can buy a season pass for this After 3 program for $25!

Also wonderful for beginners They have 3 area tows (Grizzyly tow, Transfer tow and Alta Lodge tow) these are free everyday all day and is definitely the best place to start if you are nervous to go straight up the lift. Use the tow ropes, learn to stop, and turn, then get your pass at 3 and have a great time!

Lift Hours:
Albion: 9:15 am - 4:30 pm
Cecret: 9:15 am - 3:30 pm
Collins: 9:15 am - 4:30 pm
Sugarloaf: 9:15 am - 4:00 pm
Sunnyside: 9:15 am - 4:30 pm
Supreme: 9:15 am - 3:30 pm
Wildcat: 9:15 am - 4:00 pm
Transfer Tow: 9:15 am - 5:00 pm
Alta Lodge Tow: 9:15 am - 5:00 pm
Rustler Lodge Lift: 9:15 am - 5:00 pm

Have Fun!

Ok, I loved this mountain! Best snow even though it hadn't snowed in 5 days. Powder stays dry and no snowboards
